These are great! Do you use references at all - especially for the flash - or just draw from memory? Thanks.

"Great video! I'm just starting to learn about tattooing and this tutorial was incredibly helpful. The tips on design principles and color theory were especially useful. I'm looking forward to practicing what I've learned and improving my skills. Keep up the fantastic work

What’s the name of the portfolio you got there off of Amazon? Thank you and love the content!

it was just a basic art portfolio! If you search on Amazon 30-Pocket Binder with Plastic Sleeves 9x12 you should see a bunch of great options!

question, how fast do you have to draw an image/design, i feel like im kinda slow at drawing and i would like to work on meeting the quota of time required
@gibbykain2 жыл бұрын
Quality over quantity! Are you sure you're not over working your designs? Try setting little goals for yourself like bi-weekly, then move them up to weekly when you're ready to challenge yourself. Some designs are going to be more intensive than others so it's okay to adjust when needed.

Did any artists have an issue with you messaging them first? I’ve gone to a few shops now and one told me to call next time before showing up and the next one that I did call told me not to call before showing up to shops with my portfolio. It’s a little frustrating 😅 I’m currently taking those shops advice and reworking some of my portfolio before I go talk to more shops but I just never know how to approach them. Thank you so much for this video! It’s always super helpful to see what styles other people have in their portfolio :)

I've personally not had that issue, I approached almost everyone via ig first (but I have a ton of my work posted already so idk if that helped my chances). Every shop is going to be different, but dont let it discourage you! How they treat you in this stage can be filled with red flags too.

I dmed my shop. I also had my art on my art ig account. No personal posts. Depends on the artist, so just keep trying until you find someone for you :) if anything I’ve heard a girl say she left small “sample portfolios” at shops with copies of some of her fave pieces (like 5-6) and had her ig/phone number for them to call back if they were interested in seeing more. I thought that was cool.

Tysm for this video! I never even thought of getting my first aid training before I even started my apprenticeship! I do have a question, did you feel the need to force yourself to add any styles you feel weren’t your strong suit? Like adding new school art when it’s not something you like/ are skilled in?

What paper did you use for you portfolio and do you need special paper for the flash designs?
@gibbykain2 жыл бұрын
I used Arches cold press for my watercolor flash, and basic Strathmore tracing paper for my line drawings. Hopefully this helps, I know there's a ton of options out there but Strathmore is always the most bang for your buck in terms of quality vs cost.
