I want to say your art is so good!! I’m 17, and I want to be a tattoo artist. I know I have a long way to go, both with my art and with learning. But I’m filling sketchbooks and getting better. I’m determined to get an apprenticeship and I want to be not only a good artist, but also a person who can get better at it and never stop improving
@KaylieMorbid4 жыл бұрын
That is a fantastic attitude to have 👏🏻 It is a really tough industry, but also really great and rewarding. Don’t settle for people treating you like shit because it’s “just how things are,” never stop learning and improving!

Thanks girl, I appreciate the advice on adding your best work that isn't necessarily "tattoo-y. " I'm passionate about comic art and realism, portraits, thst kind of stuff but got a bit distracted by drawing traditional tattoo stuff. Really helped with planning my portfolio!

Hey its been a minute but would you consider making another video about this subject? maybe a "how things are going" or "what i expected vs. what it was" type video? Ive been heavily debating seriously searching for an apprenticeship and videos like this keep the good vibes flowing while I wait for my chance lol.

Your work is amazing! I want to start working on my portfolio but I've only ever been a traditional, black and white artist. I've never really tired doing color yet but would you suggest doing mostly color designs for a portfolio? Or is black and white ok too?
@KaylieMorbid4 жыл бұрын
I’d say whatever you want to tattoo, include work that reflects it. I think it’s always a good idea to have variety to show what you’re capable of, but for example, I don’t plan on focusing on realism, so I didn’t try to put any in my portfolio.

Can you have a digital art portfolio? Or tattoo artists prefer to see traditional art? Or can you do both?
@KaylieMorbid4 жыл бұрын
I think it really depends on the artist/studio...Most artists I’ve met use ProCreate and iPads, but some old school artists consider it “cheating.” I think it’s okay to have some digital pieces to flesh out your portfolio, but it’s still probably safest to have the bulk of your portfolio be traditional to show off your drawing and coloring skills, since ultimately tattoo itself is a “traditional” art.
