Tattooing for beginners Stipple Shading Explained!! The basic techniques of stipple shading on both fake skin and real skin. We start off on fake skin while explaining the process. We then zoom in close up on the tattoo for a better look at what the needles and hand are doing to achieve the desired stipple effect. I then perform the same techniques on real skin where I tattoo the top of my leg in an effort to display the technique on real skin as well.

I've been waiting ages for a stippling video like this, thanks for the sacrificial offering of the leg. You literally put your blood, sweat and tears into this channel. I find that setting the depth and riding the tube during stippling helps a lot to control the depth of the needle during the rapid hand movements.
@ArtSomething
@ArtSomething 3 жыл бұрын
LOL no problem im happy to give up a little leg space. And your right you can bring the needles in a little bit and ride to tube as it can help keep a more consistant depth as well, again assuming the needle depth is set right. Thanks again man appreciate the support!! 🤘🤘

I really appreciate these videos that you make. I live in a small town in the mountains where there's no one to really apprentice under... The more I read online The More I got discouraged due to the gatekeeping surrounding tattooing, but then I found your videos! I ordered a machine and a whole bunch of stuff that you recommended along with a whole bunch of fake skin and the passion for learning to tattoo is back!!! So just kind of wanted to say thank you for being so open to teach people like me the basics so we can start learning about tattooing in a safer way. Really appreciated, and I look forward to all of your videos!

Can you only stipple with liners ? Can you use mags also to stipple ?
@ArtSomething
@ArtSomething 2 жыл бұрын
You can Stipple with almost any needle. Liners, Round shaders, and with Mags. its all about getting the needles to skip across the skin like a stone on water leaving little dots as it goes. And this can be done again with almost any needle configuration. Hope this helps and thanks for watching and supporting the channel! 🤘🙏🤘

Great stuff and insightful as usual brother. Thanks for sharing the tricks of the trade. I hate when people learn from others and then hoard information so others don’t learn. I’ve had that happen many times when people ask me for tattoo advice, shading coloring etc, and then turn around and tell me, “Dude man, I can’t share that, my mentor told me to never share my techniques.” Flabargasting, but very real. What comes around goes around the-way-of-the-Universe! 🙏🏻

Advice for making stencils last longer? I've tried to dilute my green soap more, more dabbing with paper towels and less wiping. Helps a little. Still have issues tho. Even tho I let the stencil dry for 20 mins at least. Using Stencil Stuff.. Also, my ink caps sometimes dry out. I use Dynamic and Eternal. It's happened to both.
@brettcharles5048
@brettcharles5048 3 жыл бұрын
Don’t wipe much on your initial lining/shading. I always line everything out unless the ink blotches up then I wipe a bit in the certain spot. But no wiping until my initial lining is done then go back and touch up and darken the lining and you can wipe as much as you want

I would like to say I love Daves approach on explaining things throughly, maybe military background? but it really helped me understand techniques to improve my journey into tattooing. Also I love hygiene and sanitation practice. that you consistently tell us about, which should be habit. if you want to venture into this awesome art

Good show of technique, but why not also wrap the battery pack? Are you cleaning it afterwards?

I bought dynamic black but find that it’s super thin and splatters everywhere. See a lot of pros use it though. What gives?

Do you know of any good coil machines that you would recommend??

The only coil machine I have used was the Mickey Sharps Micro Dial. I enjoyed the machine but once I went to Rotary machines I never looked back.

When I do this technique, I do it exactly how it is on the video, works great on fake skin, but when I do it on real skin I can barely see the shading, it’s so light, and it results in me doing loads of layers and it ends up looking patchy and messy, I don’t know where I’m screwing up! Any tips?

Awesome to hear that brother!! 🤘And it is fun to use just small needle groupings to do an entire tattoo. Try a 3tight or a bugpin for a tattoo it’s a fun experience. And best of luck on the next one brother you got it so keep killing it.!!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
