I recently started tattooing after practicing on fruits, fake skin and even a pork shoulder. Your videos have made all the difference in the world for me. I’m disabled (paralyzed waist down) and was having trouble using a conventional power supply, then I saw your review in one of the pens and it changed the game for me! No need to push a pedal for a person who can’t move his foot is a life changer! I’ve watched most of your videos and keep coming back every time I hit a snag. Keep up the amazing work

There's some power supplies that bypass the foot pedal and just stay on the whole time like the battery pack. I got a mast dragon hawk machine on amazon for 100 bucks and if u hold the power supply power button and it stays on. Can't afford a good wireless machine

How do you practice on this skin?!! It’s TERRIBLE! I’ve tried 3 different kinds and they all suck. They don’t hold ink, I gotta press hard and go over the entire thing twice. Also trying to make straight lines and even make circles is a pain in the ass with this skin. It’s too rough. I’m very new to tattooing and this stage is very discouraging. I’m not going to give up but how can I get better when the skin is not helping?

Your videos are really informative and helpful to those struggling with line work. One of the things I picked up on is the type of needle cartridges you buy. For a long time I thought it didn’t matter what equipment you use to tattoo with. I was wrong. I takes quality needles to be able to pull clean lines ,like Kwadron needles. That’s all I use. The needle stays put when you pull the lines, unlike other high end needles there’s no wobble,so your not fighting to put in clean lines. Thanks for the great videos

Wrap the fake skin around a roll of paper towel and tattoo on there. I find a few benefits from doing that. I don’t damage my tattoo machine by potentially going too deep and on to a hard surface. Also the roll of paper towel somewhat imitates the curves of a limb and its a better simulation than tattooing something flat. That’s how I did it.

Great job explaining things! You mentioned a video on stretching. I will stretch significantly and yet I notice the machine isnt hitting and I tear the skin a bit more than I would like. I got the Bishop wand which hits amazing and that doesnt happen as much. But sometimes. I noticed that if I dont wash out my needle before switching to another then come back it doesnt hit as good. A video on how to stretch on different skin locations would be dope. I also noticed that tatting black skin gets really puffy and hard to tell what ur tatting. I think it has something to do with the melanin releasing inflammatory cytokines as it is a protective mechanism. Anyways. I always feel like im trying too hard to stretch compared to the live videos of artists yet their lines hit first time.

@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say there’s a proper weight time in between tattooing yourself. I would say after you tattooed one spot I would let it heal before you tattoo that same spot again. But as long as you’re not tattooing on top of a tattoo that’s healing you should be fine.

Thank you so much for this!!! I had watched it a few monts ago, when I was practicing on fake skin, and now that I tattoo humans (my lovely and supportive friends and relatives) I can apreciate the précision and richness of info you give us here! Now, the problem is:I get pretty décent lines and lovely blended colors when I tattoo someonelse, but the two attempts I have made at tattoing myself turned out into Jack the Ripper tattooing. I LITTERALLY DID À DAMN SCARIFICATION of my leg ! Took 3 weeks to heal, it looks good from a distance,it was à draw I did myself and so I am happy. But it is packed with inconsistencies, blow outs and différent saturation in lines. I am someone with à thick skin and very high pain tolérance, so I decided to do a second attempt on the other leg,TRYING not to repeat the same shit. So, I reduced needle throw, stretched the skin properly and took my time. Well, línes are crispy and Nice, but my attempt to use à round shader to pack color (Light Green) makes my calf look like a buffalo wing. LITTERALLY hoping I am not getting a nasty scar there. Anyways, just sharing my story so that nobody looses motivation ! Love from Spain!

@hansmith27754 жыл бұрын
I've needed this so so bad. I'm starting to learn and practice and after a time on fruit I did my upper thigh. The ink wouldn't stay and the lines were so thin! It's completely different practicing on fake skin and fruit then trying real skin. Maybe I wasn't stretching my skin enough? Over all, I was able to fit my tattoo enough to look pretty good. I'm still upset that I don't have an answer as to what I was doing wrong. My speed was up correctly, I had enough ink, and my needle was out the right depth, so I have no idea what I was doing wrong :( But this video was so needed!!! Thank you for your work!

I really like your videos, they are helpful and you are a cool teacher. I’ve practiced a lot on fake skin and went through it myself, but real explanation is important)

This is the details in the beginning I want to learn. But don't you think that slow movement while lining on low voltage can tear the skin?! It often happen when I do on fake skin.

omg thank you so much for this video! I never knew about that vaseline trick. Would you recommend using vaseline on real skin throughout the tattoo as well? Also i read in the comments that sometimes its the ink and it may need to be diluted. I use dynamic triple black ink. do you think that is ready to use? Thanks again for these tips!
@ArtSomething4 жыл бұрын
No problem Naomi im glad the video helped you out. And yes you can use Vaseline during a tattoo on real skin as well. The triple black may make it harder for you due to the fact that it is a thicker ink and can make things a little more messy. I use dynamic black not the triple black. Not saying triple black is bad cause its not, but when you see me tattooing on fake skin im always using Dynamic black.

I have a question. I have been found using 5rl is my comfort area but I want thicker lines so I am trying to use some 9rl I am having a strange results where it's a decent line and saturated but you can see lines within the lines like each point of every needle. I'm not sure what am I doing wrong. Could it be the type of needles I'm using or maybe my hand angle? I'm stumped because I don't see that with other needle sizes I love your videos. so helpful!

This vid literally saved me man i was having this probs for almost 2 months now before it was all good but something happened for some reason why my lines isn’t that bold looking when i tattoo, i run my machines on 7.5-9volts and i use floater technique when i line. For me i think this vid also applies onto real skin and again thanks for this man u just saved me a ton of time, keep em coming brother cheers from the philippines 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯

Love your work, but I have a question, have you ever tattooed someone with excess skin or where the needles just don't feel like they penetrate well?
@ArtSomething3 жыл бұрын
THank you Miche! And yes I have tattooed those areas. And what I can say is that the needles are bouncing more then usual and its hard to get the needles to penetrate properly. So what I do in these areas are of course get the best stretch you can, but also turn your voltage up a little more and throw your needles out a bit more as well. THis will help compensate for the bouncy/ loos skin. Hope this helps and thanks for the support!! 🤘🤘🤘
