In all sincerity, Bad News Bears is one of the greatest sports films. It captures the true comraderie and small details that go into little league games. I wanna say this was also an inspiration of A League of Their Own

46 years now! I was 12 when this awesome movie was released! We were so pumped for this movie to hit theaters in April 1976!

I was 10 in '76, Tatum was 3 years older. I had been playing baseball for a year already when the show came out. I just loved it.

Her high leg kick and motion was awesome. She really sold it. This movie is just as great as it ever was.

It wasn't her actually pitching. It was a male body double. Hence the pitched always shot from the back.

That movie practically DEFINED growing up in the 70's. The haircuts, jeans, potty-mouths, testing authority. I wouldn't trade coming of age in any other decade. I still love this movie.......still makes me laugh

Bad News Bears and 1979's Over The Edge are the two most accurate movies of what it was like growing up in the 70's. Born in 65 and raised in the 70's, sure am glad I got to live it.

I would love to see Tatum play an adult Amanda starting a little league team for her Granddaughter. I would make her Granddaughter a lot like her but perhaps even more reluctant to play since she would know nothing about her grandmother's experience and would not have a buttermaker in her life. Perhaps Amanda could hire a former teammate to coach the new team. Perhaps Tanner or Ogilvie or Ahmad or even Engleberg. The important thing is that the character would remain. Getting the original actors and paying them what they should have made but were screwed out of because they were kids is a good idea. Especially if Chris Barnes is Hired to play Tanner. That would be my choice.

I remember reading that Kristy McNichol was considered for the part of Amanda.

Yes very true, and Tatum O'Neal and Kristy McNichol would later co-star in Little Darlings (1979).

An obvious question from an interviewer would have been about the sequel(s). Was she asked to do it ? Did she decline ? Why or why not ? How much were the kids paid in the mid 70's ? Working with Jackie Earle Haley ? What did she think of 'BREAKING TRAINING' ?
