Welcome to the 3rd episode of Taupō Trippin series and another New Zealand travel series. Today's vlog is all about finding the best food and seeing if these local recommendations for the best places to eat and stay turn out to be valuable. Spoiler alert, they do.
We start off making our way towards Lake Taupo and our accommodation at the Hilton. First stop is Creel Tackle House Cafe, suggested as the best cafe to grab a brioche and a little off the beaten path. We like that. We loved the cafe snacks and coffee too.
From there it's about the food of central Taupo for the most part. There's plenty of amazing restaurants, cafes and bars around Taupo but we'd like to think the recommendations were all pretty sound! Everything we had was amazing and on a sunny day in particular, that spot at Two Mile Bay Sailing Club is an absolute winner.

The honey place was very cool. We stayed at an AirBnB that was a cottage in someone's large garden and she kept bees - was fascinating to chat to her. I know the signs said to wear protection, but our host said we're okay as long as we didn't stand right in front of where they go in and out (and we never got stung!) Pepperoni pizzas are great, but if you swap out the 'basic' tomato sauce base for a BBQ sauce base, it takes it to a whole new level!! 100% would have gone for the sea salt caramel... but I couldn't help but laugh Stace at you saying it felt weird eating an ice cream on camera and turning around. You gotta get the angle just right so the ice cream blocks your mouth 🤣 but I fully understand your pain with this one!

I can definitely get behind pepperoni with a BBQ base - actually any pizza with a BBQ base triples in taste haha, I'll convince Stace of that next time. Cool that you got to chat with someone in the bee game, we love those kinds of experiences when someone is super knowledgeable about something and shares it

So good to see you guys got to the Creel Cafe. It's a great stop and the food is to die for.If you ever stop in there again,try the Beef,chorizo,caramel onion burgers - at $15,it's worth the price. I'd say you pretty much sussed out some of the better places to eat in Taupo,but there are a few other spots that'll surprise you,but I might wait till your next upload in case you two have discovered them. The only good thing about being in stinkin' lockdown again,is I can binge watch travel vlogs and watch people eat - haha.

In the preview, I thought the brioche had chocolate in it...raisins was a MASSIVE disappointment. I love your food vlogs! We got amazing honey in Croatia! It was blueberry honey and is so completely different from any honey I've ever experienced here in the U.S

You can never go wrong with legit bbq food! There was a great bbq place in Glasgow but sadly it closed down and I really need my bbq fix! Once you've had a burnt end in your mouth you just want them all the time!
