love it 1:30 your outside the Queenstown mews, literally a timeshare that has been in my Family for 30+ years, My parents brought it off my Grandparents a while back so we are down in QT for a reasonable price to stay there a week or 2 every year or so I feel grateful.. Yes I get it cost are high in QT but thats what you get for premium tourist towns no matter what country in the world.. though if you can get there the scenary, culture and atomosphere is free!

Hi there Mado and Glen, Qtown is a tourist destination.. fleecing tourists is the norm, sadly. I’m seriously thinking about heading down there, after watch you two. Everywhere is expensive at the moment. I’d still give it a go. How do you think it compares to , say, northern hemisphere, safety, price, easiness of living away?
@GlenAndMado10 ай бұрын
Hey hope your well! It’s definitely an amazing place! Even Wanaka is an option which is a mini version of queenstown and definitely more peaceful and abit more on the cheap side. When it comes to safety it’s actually so safe and there’s no one stealing or anything. Everyone leaves there doors open and cars unlocked a lot of the time too. Prices are quite all the same around the country anyways when it comes to food and stuff.

As a local growing up here in the 70s and 80s everything was different then, life was so much slower and friendly and cost free. This is a perfect example of corporate exploration of a then a simple farming town! My father ran a grocery store in the so called Queenstown mall when traffic ran through it. I Fucking hate this place!!!!!!!!!!!
@barrycuda37696 ай бұрын
It sure has changed, I first went there when I was 6 years old in 1970 with family , it's one of my favourite memories, we stayed in one of the cabins behind the Bottle house , I remember the grocery store you mentioned, Danes adventure tours , the huge trout and eels at the jetty, the original bubble shaped gondolas, the Meteor Hyrdrofoil , The Earnslaw, the U drive jet boats and trail bike rentals ( a fleet of Honda XL 100's) Popeye Lucas at Cecil Peak , this wasn't all in 1970 , we went there many times later on. It was touristy then but on a much smaller scale. I loved it back then , it made a pleasant change from being in Dunedin
@christinabingham14772 ай бұрын
Sigh yes yes we locals here hear that all the time. Actually it has a lovely community that looks after each other well. And it isn’t spoiled it’s beautiful. And it’s expensive if you go out eating out all the time or doing tourist things like people do when they visit ofc. But us locals don’t live like that. It isn’t a farming town anymore. Places grow. I’m so sick of people’s bitterness towards queenstown. Unless you live here these days you don’t really see it for what it really is as a community.

Random thoughts to feed algorithms. Frisbee Golf. Wellington on a plate, burgers are the best. As a Kiwi I could live in Queenstown if away from the busy centre, I have no interest in the tourism hustle and bustle. Just quietly if I could i would change Palmerston North's city motto it would be "sssh don't tell anyone". We don't get hords of tourists and the city empties out on public holidays! First city in Aotearoa to 100% electric public bus transport. We have botanical gardens, river walks, cycleways, excellent cafés and restaurants. No traffic to speak of. We have a mini train you can ride on! No. We have two mini trains you can ride on. Also grownup trains.

Hahah yeah good titles buddy! Did you make them up yourself?? I mean everyone has there interests and we respect that a lot ❤️ Palmerston north is definitely a hidden gem and very quite.
