I love that the Efteling has chosen to work with Epica. In the past they have worked with Anneke van Giersbergen (she does the voices/singing of the witte wieven at the Baron 1898 rollercoaster). 20 years ago or something they also used an instrumental song from Within Temptation as background music on the promenade in the park for a couple of years. The ride De Vliegende Hollander was supposed to have vocals from Floor Jansen (then in After Forever), but there was a legal issue so they had to swap that before the ride opened back in 2007. The Efteling knows what's up and really is a great theme park. The ride is based around the musical piece. The story (really short version) behind it all is that there was a musical concourse in 1876 where an entire orchestra vanished after taking a walk in a nearby forest. They were supposed to play Danse Macabre at that concourse. Generations later a family of traveling salesman walk that same path and feel the present of the Unmentionable. They get joined by a black cat (with yellow and blue eyes, like simone in the video) and find some sheet music of danse macabre and the diary of Joseph Charlatan, the conductor of the orchestra. Which is the great great grandfather of that traveling family. Fast forward (a lot) and they end up at the abbey where one of the travelers gets scratched and then seems possessed and gets sick and eventually taken away. As a rider you'll walk trough the forest and grave yard of the abbey and end up in the abbey itself. There you are placed in church benches and then Danse Macabre starts playing and you'll see the ghost of Joseph Charlatan and a lot of other stuff playing Danse Macabre. The benches (where you are in) itself start dancing on the music, spinning faster and faster and tilting and eventually even drop a few meters. During the ride you can see a lot of references to and old show ride that used to be there called Spookslot, which also used Danse Macabre as the music. Sounds spooky, but Efteling is like Disney as in that it has the same family friendly vibe (and the same target group) so its (I find it sadly) spooky, but really family friendly. I think you'll love it Tauri :D also, pronunciation was on point!

Fun Fact: Danse Macabre has been build on the spot where Spookslot* (former walkthrough Haunted Castle) once stood, this attraction already used Danse Macabre in the main show... It sadly wasn't up-to safety standards anymore, and they replaced it with this 1 of a kind (prototype) attraction which carries the name of the music as a tribute to it... -The attraction cost 35million to build (10 more then originally budgeted) *= When Spookslot opened in 1978 Kate Bush recorded the clip for Wuthering Heights at this location as well Side Note: Efteling likes to collaborate with artists when they can, example DJ Hardwell made a special Baron 1898 mix, DJ Tiësto has his own mix in Aquanura (Huge fountain near entrance/exit park) as does Guus Meeuwis (local artist) al of this music can be found on KZbin btw

Loved your reaction and loved this video! I love how they did Simone's makeup so she appeared gaunt and ghoulish and also the yellow green contacts? Your right, I think Simone's theatricality and her ability to embody characters is very underrated. I would love to see her on stage in a spooky musical. Always loved her Angel of Death in Ayreon's Transitus. Fantastic!

I love Epica so much. So sad i missed last concert in Paris in 2023. the music "Danse Macabre" is From French Composer Camille Saint Saens. I love it so much. This composer own my favorite Violin piece as he also composed "introduction and Rondo Capricioso" that is so beautiful. but to be back to Epica, their version is so gooooooooodddd. at least, 2024 was a better year for me. In June I saw Lovebites, in September I Saw Symphony X, and in November i'll see Dream Theater.

What is fun that the attraction Danse Macabre replaced the (old) attraction Het Spookslot (Haunted castle) which soundtrack was Danse Macabre. Kate Bush filmed her first video clips in het Spookslot, so it's cool that Epica has made a videoclip in Danse Macabre. There was a tombstome for Kate Bush, just like now for Epica.

It's amazing how your joy lights up everything around you, highlights your beauty and completely transforms it into smiles and happiness! MUSIC literally has the power to bring us joy or sadness, as well as transport us to other places. That's what I see in you today, in this work of art by Épica! Some time ago, I mentioned that I don't have a favorite band, I have a favorite channel that brings me these feelings and also transports me to other places, depending on the song chosen for the day! This channel is very eclectic, with a selection of genres for all tastes! But the symphonic rock metal genre predominates and with more than 1200 reaction videos released! It's a diverse channel that brings fans interviews with their favorite musicians and bands! It's a magical moment where the presenter allows us to be there, with our favorite artist, and learn a little more about them, behind the scenes of the music scene! Don't know this channel? What do you mean? You're on it now! Watching another reaction from its creator, affectionately called Tauri, from the TauriReacts channel! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! Kid, your reaction to the mega show that was this Épica performance was beautiful! I know how important they are in your life! There are already many comments, and that's great, and I was also very happy that there were around 60 people with you at the premiere, so I won't go on too much! I love you! Take care! You are very important in the lives of countless people, and I include myself in that amount, just like a small grain of sand! Take care! 🌷 (English is not my official language, so I use the translator)

First impression when I heard this live (AFAS), "hey, Simone's channeling Kate Bush".. Same vibe at 6:24 nice.. Better still, there's a direct connection with the Efteling which I only learned about from better informed Dutchies who go waaaay back tt seventies. The lore: this new attraction is the upgrade of its predecessor called "Spookslot" (haunted castle). Take a wild guess who sang at the opening in 1978? Kate even got her very own tombstone which is still there, somewhere.. Now take a look at the clip. The "Epica" tombstone; Simone's white dress (made famous over here in NL by Kate's "Toppop" videos), clear nods to this one: "Kate Bush (Efteling) - original recording 1978 • TopPop". There's also at least two "cameos" 6:40 The singing monks are: Jeroen Verheij (r), designer at the Efteling & Joost (LUL!) van den Broek (l) of Ayreon/After Forever/etc fame and also Epica's producer. Simone's yellow/blue eyes are a reference tt children's book "Danse Macabre" by Dutch writer Paul van Loon. No doubt, I still missed a ton of Easter eggs.

I don't know why they are comparing Nightwish with Epica, they are two completely different bands but come on. Nightwish is one of the few bands within symphonic metal that risks new elements in their sounds (just like Within Temptation) and this makes them the greatest at what they do. Tuomas left neverland and now composes music based on history and books (like the song The Antikythera Mechanism for example), different from Epica and that's okay too
