Taurus Model 65 the best all around revolver for the price

Taurus Model 65 .357 Magnum is an excellent quality gun for the price. In my opinion, it's the best quality all around revolver you can buy for the money. It has a 4" barrel, fixed rear sight and a nice stainless finish. There are a lot of gun snobs out there who turn their nose up at Taurus, don't listen to them. This is a great gun for under $400.00.

I liked your compliment about Taurus. I live in Brazil, Taurus manufactures weapons here and sends them to the United States. Unfortunately the price of their weapons here is expensive, while for you it is cheap.I love Smith & Wesson, especially the Schofield, and the Colt, with its Colt Police model, which we affectionately call "Colt Cavalinho" are rare, but they are great weapons. Sorry for the bad english, maybe you won't understand some things I typed.

It's all good brother. Taurus took a lot of heat for turning out poor quality products in the 80's but their quality control has improved greatly. They are a good value for the money.

I purchased this gun today. It's one of the only wheelguns legal in California from Taurus. I really love this revolver and I can't wait to bring it home. As you saw someone else in the comments say, yes we have a 10 (actually 11%) sales tax and a DROS fee of roughly $40 and a stupid 10 day, pointless wait to bring the gun home. It serves to only piss us off, nothing more. I used to live in Pennsylvania. No such thing as s DROS or wait period. Plus we have a 30 day cool down period. So 1 gun every 30-40 days and that's it. When I lived in a free state it wasn't uncommon for me to leave the shop after a 10 minute background check with 3 guns and some bulk ammo. God, I miss those days so much. As for the 65 I believe you under sold that trigger. For the price I was in awe. I almost walked out paying for a GP101 or SP101....almost. The 65 trigger blew me away. It will be my bear gun for sure. This year I purchased a Taurus 856 executive grade which I love too and at the end of last year an 856 snubby. These new Taurus revolvers have been super reliable in my experience thus far. I still plan to get the sp101 and gp100 at some point as well though.

My Taurus 65 (manufactured in 2023) has been rock solid. It's a very durable and basic service profile revolver. There's nothing really fancy about it but it's a very utilitarian wheel gun. Mine has perfect timing and cylinder lock-up. The fit and function is pretty good. I was actually impressed by Taurus with this particular revolver.

I wanted a s&w 65, because it was what my state troopers used, before they went to semi autos. They no longer make that model and a used one is expensive, so I got the Taurus 65! I've never regretted my decision! It's been all I could ask for in a hand gun. Like all mid size/k frame revolvers they were not made for a heavy diet of 357 mag. The old troopers would run 38 in them and shoot 357 just enough to know the feel of them. A winning formula if you want to your 65 to last.

No nonsense no B.S. review. I've got a Taurus 82 rated for plus P .38 special I traded a Shield in 9 for. I got the better end of the deal. I love my older S&W revolvers, but if someone wanted a revolver that performs at an affordable price, you couldn't do better than a 65 or 82. I just don't like that flat black finish they have on them these days.

I am a range Office at my Club for many years. Have seen a lot of Taurus owners and their revolvers and can say emphatically that they are much better quality than People have been duped by for so many years. The model 65 is one that I do want to purchase. Great reputation among people that actually own them. Thanks for the review.

Taurus always made good revolvers. They did turn out a lot of crap pistols in Brazil during the 90's

I have a 605 2 inch in 357 magnum. it's 24 ounces so shooting 38 special and 38 special plus P are real pleasurable compared to my old S&W 442 air weight that was only 15 ounces and hurt my hand and beat my middle knuckle up. Now the Taurus 605 also shoots 357 magnum which I did only once due to recoil and muzzle blast from the 2 inch barrel so I would only use 357 in this gun if I had to and leave 357 magnums to shoot in my S&W model 65 three inch and model 686 four inch.

I bought a black one a few months ago through Kentucky Gun Company, for $418 (Layaway price). It's Awesome! The only problem I had was buying a Holster for it. I bought a holster for a S&W 586, and it fits the Taurus 65 like a glove. I wish I'd bought the revolver 20 years ago. It was a tough decision between the 82 and the 65, but the Magnum won me over. I just wish it had come with the orange insert on the front sight, But I'm still happy with my purchase.

Have over 12 Taurus pistols, from 380 acp to 45 acp,and three revolvers, a 3" stainless 327 magnum ported, and a 4"stainless 357 magnum 66 and a 65 , and various calibers in others and cold war era pistols,and 2 1911a1 in 45 acp , not ever had any problems with my Taurus pistols,my main EDC,is a Glock 33 gen3, like my 65 stainless 357 slightly more than my 66, the double action is a little better,🤔 have carried various calibers and pistols in the military and law enforcement back in the 70 s through the 90 s and have always liked Taurus pistols,🤠 they just work and have never had a problem with them, maybe I am lucky, some people still complain about them, Taurus ♉💥👍

When it comes to revolvers… I have a variety and my Taurus models have never let me down. They aren’t the prettiest to pull out of the safe but they are built solid. Let’s face it… when it comes to self defense… what matters is can you accurately put a shot on target not how shiny and polished it is.

I love Taurus revolvers, they are great guns for the money. Taurus still has a bad rap for turning out a lot of crap in the 80's but that was their semi-autos. Taurus revolvers have always been solid and I would never part with mine.

Yeah I don't know about this I had a tracker 44 mag and model 85.. The tracker and 85 had timing issues, the 85 would hang up in double action. And the accuracy was terrible. The trackers hammer eventually would not even lock up and would catch half way back.. I never felt comfortable with them again and sold them.. Alot of the older taurus wheel guns were good. I just never had much confidence in them. I'll stick with my s&ws and rugers.. M

I can get a Rock Island 38. For 250, basically a Nickd down 357. Revolvers just ain't going to do it better have a semi-auto

38. And 357. Are a different ballpark. Very few loads of 38. Have impressed me for hiking/bear and pig defense. If i were you i'd skid the rock island and get a more quality 38./357. Taurus has been making revolvers for years. And revolvers have advantages over semi auto and disatvantages. But there's nothing more simple to operate than a wheel gun
