Over 10 years ago I bought this pistol when it was the previous model PT845 and still own it today as it has performed perfectly.. at the same time I bought the 9mm PT809 and still have that today as it has also performed perfectly

I have a PT845 that uses Remington RP45 15rd mags with the top front hole on the RP mags dremeled out to a circle the the same diameter as the square on the front of the PT845 mags, and now I have a PT845 with 15 + 1 Capacity - and DA/SA ambi everything- Basically an FN45 now 😊 I have a video on the RP45, but I'll make one on my PT845 mods if TH45 users are interested. The seemingly pointless top (of two) holes on the front of the 15rd RP45 mags is the same spot the ambi catch square is on PT845 mags, and easy to expand to aprox a .4 inch hole (eyeballing it) with a conical carbide file-drill tip. FYI slide lock works with the Remington followers too! Also Para P14 mag extensions fit on the RP45 mags, so with a a +10% spring you can 17+1 in your PT845 this way. One thing though: The PT845 and TH45 have different size/shape plastic base caps. I don't know know if there is more plastic on the TH45 grip than the PT845 grip. It could be that these mods only work on the PT845 and not the TH45 - look at their pictures side by side and see why I am not 100% on this working for the TH45.

Also DPM Systems makes a recoil reduction system for the PT845 that fits the TH45 too, highly recommended!

I think they extended the plastic on the grip of the TH45, thus the RP45 mags will only fit the PT845 not its new clone the TH45. But the DPM system does work in both, I know that

As a leftie the most important feature of this gun is that it's fully ambidextrous. All guns should be like this by law. Kudos Taurus

I used to own the PT-809... I miss that gun. Would 100% consider it a go-to-war gun. Great double action, nice single action. Can be carried decocked or run it 1911 style cocked and locked. Good ergonomics and dead on accurate. Ate every brand of ammo. And then I sold it. Not sure why. But now and again, I cry about it.

I am not a Taurus fan, but I think I will get the TH10 to support this line. I hope DA/SA guys do the same. Taurus is giving us the option that most of the industry ignores. Why haven't we seen a polamyre frame hammer fire from HK, or Sig or Beretta or S&W etc? Because they're dicks. I say good on Taurus for putting out an offering with little competition for it.

I don’t have this particular pistol but I have a Taurus TH9C that’s been great, so much so that I’m considering the TH40C. Taurus gets a bad rep but it seems their newer offerings are solid.

The th40 price point can't be argued. I was browsing the bass pro site last night and ran across the 40 and 45. $310 for the 40 and $430 for the 45. I've been looking for a 45 sidearm for a while and couldn't find anything with a decent capacity without a ridiculous price tag until I spotted the TH's. I've watched a few reviews and my mind is made up. I know what I'm buying for Christmas.

Yep. It's a low-pressure cartridge. So if or when it blows up it shouldn't be tooooo bad.

I like how the TH series work. I've had an issue with my TH9C failure to fire if I had too much pressure on the safety.

I’m impressed with how that gun is made , the distance between the bottom of the beaver tail and the bottom of the slide is so close together compared to a regular hammer fired pistol. Lower bore axis.

That's a product of design, not manufacture. So it has nothing to do with how "it's made" and everything to do with how "it's designed." Sorry, but if you ever worked in a machining shop you'd be sensitive about that difference also.

​@@user-jetmachinistI absolutely agree it appears well-designed. Absolutely. It has great features and looks eminently shootable. I bet it's a fun shooter. Well-made? I'd wait and see about that. I'm a natural skeptic, when I see a features rich firearm from a budget manufacturer I remind myself that they had to have made compromises somewhere. When I think "well-made" I look at Sphinx, or Sig Legion, any modern HK, or Dan Wesson, etc. and know that they've never blown up in my hand. Maybe it's well made, it IS certainly well-designed and probably fun.

GB, looks like a great Taurus TH45 pistol. I like the decocker and hammer. I just brought the TH40 pistol, I lv the pistol. Payed use $154.00 OTD The pawnshop also has a TH9 pistol for the same price, thinking that i will go back soon to buy-it for the same price..

Interesting looking gun. I just watched the Firearm’s Guys review of the TH10 10mm model. It appeared to need a break in period before settling in to reliable functioning. Looking forward to your shooting video.

Excellent features, pretty much everything on a sidearm that I would want except for that name "Taurus" on the slide. Not knocking them, and I'm sure that with a low-pressure cartridge like 45 it's just fine. I'd let someone else shoot +P though...sorry, I just don't trust manufacturers who aim at the pricepoint first; I have enough scars to make that mistrust rational.

​@@GBGunsno doubt that you do your best, and your videos are a great reference and as objective as resources allow. However, stress and fatigue are real things for metals as they are for people. It's just been my unfortunate experience to have parts shear and other exciting events on even "+P rated" firearms. I doubt (though I'd be happy to be proven wrong) that Taurus' testing regimen is as rigorous as what HK or even Sig or Glock does, as well as materials. Seriously, it's a budget gun and there has to be compromises somewhere. I wonder if "+P rated" has a defined standard and if they use an independent proofhouse or testing firm. To me, when I see a rating like that from most manufacturers I take it as "when used moderately by an average user who'll only run two or three hundred +P during ownership." It has great features, absolutely, and Taurus has come a long way for reliability...but I'd leave a steady diet of +P to an HK or the like. And wear eyepro😂

@JD-tn5lz +p does have a standard from SAAMI, I've written about it a couple of times. Ready for some magic to die? "+p" is for 9mm, which is 10% higher pressure than SAAMI normal. NATO and CIP standard 9mm is also 10% higher than SAAMI, so any 9mm firearm stamped CIP or rated for NATO ammo is effectively also so for +p. With 45acp, I don't know for sure, as I haven't researched as deeply.

I totally disagree with your logic behind not lubricating the new pistol before demonstrating it . Do you purposely drive your brand new car/truck low 4 quarts of oil before driving it ??. Say no to tiny dinky short slide guide nubs and dingus triggers. Think full length rails on CZ75 and Sig P226 Great presentation ✌️👍

​@@GBGunsI would lubricate it, or at least follow the recommendations made in the manual for prior to use. Yes, I know many don't do that, but it's a good practice. Even a quick wipedown with a SLP2000 wipe or a RemOil wipe just to clear debris and residue.

If it were a personal gun I certainly would, but we test things as they come out of the box to create a worst-case scenario. There have been guns that we've needed to oil during the review and we did and demonstrated how that made the difference.
