I can’t believe how much this reading resonates. As a police dispatcher, we HAVE to remain calm during extremely stressful situations. Handling a shooting where the offender took off on foot- we HAVE to catch this guy, a stabbing where the ems needs to do a scoop and run before we are able to secure the scene- we have to save that guy, a car accident with injuries and I need to set up a perimeter-can’t be having people contaminate the scene in case it’s a motor vehicle homicide , a child neglect case at the same time as logging traffic stops and prisoner transports…..whew! We have to stay so calm and collected and get everything taken care of and wrapped up and keep clearing the board, keep working on incoming calls and clearing them. Officers have to trust me that I’m able to prioritize and keep them safe. I get paid a lot but we are extremely understaffed because it’s not a job everyone can do everyday. Long story short…I thank you for these readings. I kindly request you pray for more dispatchers for my department. We can’t keep going on like this. It’s dire. We need at least 12 more. Over the last year we’ve lost 8 dispatchers and gained one. 60 hour work weeks is not sustainable.
