Hitting up the piers on the East river a lot lately. Mostly for the views. Mixed a little kayak session in here too, just some fun Tautog fishing on jigs.

They like the big claws a lot - don’t throw them in the water. Crush them a bit put them on the jig.

Oh yes you are right. I saved the first claw in the bag at the beginning of the video to use as backup later on. Usually save a few claws throughout the session, they work great

@BobAquatic In Montauk, we would modify a lobster trap by blocking off the escape vents. Fill a bait bag with bluefish or bunker. Set the trap in about 4 feet of water on a sandy bottom, but close to a rocky area. Set it overnight and check the next day. If you wait multiple days, the hermit crabs will abandon their shells and escape
