You havent figured out why? Because it was black group. Sorry let the truth be told. A white group selling 'soul' was more profitable than a black group. Still is today. It is called culture vultures! I dont care if the Bee Gee composed the original track, the sound was soul which influenced disco.
@s.tavares32576 жыл бұрын
Celia Smith amen sis. It’s a damn shame. Elvis was a prime example. He even said it himself “all I have to do I sound and dance like a black man, and I’ll be rich and famous.” And he stole from little Richard and others.

At 63 I still do some DJ-ing, but always retro stuff - not the excuse for music in the current charts. I have done some mixes for a local venue and have been surprised - not by those of my generation who are pleased to hear it all again, but by millennials who have said how they are loving it, and how much it beats today's stuff, with its autotune "voices" and electronically enhanced tracks by people who might look very pretty, but have little talent. Today everything is geared towards age, beauty and above all, money for the producers. IMHO programmes like 'X Factor' and Britain's Got Talent' suck. Back in the 60s, 70s and 80s, people could really sing. My apologies to the exceptions today, but you prove the rule, I am afraid. Great post Frank and thank you.

Lou, you are right on it. Tavares wrote several hit songs for other big time groups. Tavares was a super group.

No they didn't help the Bee Gees write the song. They just asked Tavares to sing it also smh.

The beegees version is sort of like a smooth version. The strings and jazzy organ in the beegees version always gets me into a dreamy feeling. This version is a bit more soulful and energetic, gets me pumped up, very 70s aesthetic. They both are really classic and amazing depending on what type of sound and mood you want out of the music.

I agree. A lot more "strength".

i would play the Bee Gees first for a slow romantic build up, then Tavares for the climax and celebration of dancing
