Hey everyone! I wanted to address the "crack" a lot of people have been commenting and emailing me about today. The transmission housing is not cracked. It's just dirt. Thanks for the concern, I'll be sure to tell you what else is broken on this car as I tear it apart more in the coming videos!

I agree this build really caught my attention. This will give other people the confidence to do gallardo builds in the future. For $60,000 or whatever he paid he could have bought something new that was fast and probably more reliable. But the twin turbo kit on this car REALLY makes a difference in value. I hope it's not too expensive to get it operational.

Actually the engine is running, folks. If you watched any of the videos you'll see that it starts right up. Actually you are wrong about the powder coating process, it’s the exact opposite. The wheel it’s self is grounded making it a negative, the powder is the only thing charged and that’s with a positive current. So you have positive powder and negative wheel. Positive sticks to negative and that’s how the powder is sprayed and it stays on the wheel for it to go into the oven. Also after the old Paint is chemically removed the wheels are media blasted to give a rough profile that the powder can to adhere too, otherwise one small chip and it will all start flaming off-I have been powder coating for 15 years and own my own custom powder coating shop.

Best of luck my friend! I’m really hoping you can do it on the relatively cheap!
@reneneron29716 жыл бұрын
Taking a car apart is almost always easy . As the previous "owner" showed, putting it together properly is a whole different story. Unless you have access to the factory service manuals, this is a train wreck of a car..even with the manuals it is going to be extremely difficult to diagnose. You need to assume almost everything was routed or done improperly. And, on the turbo set up, it is a mess, but there also is no "scavenging" downstream of a turbocharger...you simply want to minimize back pressures downstream of the turbo (or in this case, turbos).

You are not wrong, move those induction tubes and filters, wouldn't be too concerned about scavenging just make the exhaust exits as free flowing as possible. If you can move that heat exchanger into the airstream it would be a good idea if not add a fan to it. Another idea might be a spray bar for the intercooler but moved into or ducted too airflow is important , Remember for every degree c you drop intake temp you add 1% more power , a 10 % increase is only 10 degrees away.

I really think you should remove the turbo system, rebuild it as stock and enjoy it. You have a lot of variables with this setup, you should try to set it back to stock and make sure it runs right. Then after you think its slow, you have a turbo system hanging in the closet.
@MVSTNGGT6 жыл бұрын
Joseph Cholag Or instead of wasting all that time, just get the damn thing dyno tuned properly, and keep the boost all the way down. It would be the perfect daily, with the option to turn it up to 1000+ HP.
@joesdiy42606 жыл бұрын
Sure. I just hate dealing with other people's rats nests. I would rather hit the reset button and start fresh. Also, it's not as easy as you say, there is a lot more work involved than just a tune.
@MVSTNGGT6 жыл бұрын
Joseph Cholag converting it back to stock would be even more work, and it has problems revving to over 3500RPM, anyone with mechanical knowledge would start looking for easy problems and eliminating them first, it could be as simple as a bad coil pack, no matter what he does this is going to be a time/money pit.

Instead of ordering Lamborghini specific parts (I'm assuming you won't since it's out of warranty) can you order Audi or VW components to save a few bucks? Or are there enough aftermarket parts to replace what's broken?

For the carbon fiber, sand it down with a block and cover it with a new layer of carbon fiber and some epoxy. Finish with a varnish or some kind of UV-blocking lacquer (epoxy yellows/breaks down in UV). Search for "carbon fiber wrap" on youtube and you'll find plenty of tutorials! Best of luck @Tavarish!

In a turbocharged car that is Intercooled it is not as important to suck cold like a NA motor. I mean anything helps but you got to think the air is going to go through the turbo and get heated by the heat from the turbocharger and the heat created from compressing it. And you're really relying on the efficiency of the intercooler to cool it as much as possible to prevent detonation and the ECU pulling timing.
@nick.1006 жыл бұрын
I trust u since your picture is of a turbo

You saved me the time of writing this. Cold air kits on a turbo is just a joke. It's after the turbo the air gets stupid hot.

The “shop” (using the term very loosely) that installed that kit should be banned from touching a 96 Camry... Let alone a Lamborghini

Jeff Baxter to me that looks before the car was on fire. If you look, parts are different like the tips for one and in a previous comment by someone they showed the car after the fire and the engine and everything from the rear was ripped out

Tavarish, Please take the Lamborghini to a Lamborghini Specialist before you sink any money into it. It seems from the other posts the guy you bought it off got it for $45k from CoPart, got it running to then flog it on for $65k. Judging by the CoPart pictures that might not even be the original engine etc. Please get it checked before you waste any money on it. All the best, Rob
