I once held a tremendous amount of respect for Tavis Smiley. Your politics did not matter. I sincerely thought you were beyond the lower intellect of politics that uses mischaracterization and outright lies to sell a side. Black people do not own the fist pump. And if what Trump was doing, was an attempt to recreate that iconic stance, then perhaps he has more appreciation for "black" culture than any of us tend to think. We in the black church are far more familiar with people defending pastors as "anointed" and defended by god when they themselves have committed sin against their own congregations. It is a lie, to try and turn these into objectionable behaviors, when we have continually accepted it in our community. That you feel it important enough to make these claims in defense of your presumptive voting choice, in my eyes is indefensible. As a voice for our community, you have lost my ear and my respect.

@dlove28302 ай бұрын
The question is flawed. To say that America is not a racist country is nuanced, and you have to be a DEEP THINKER to understand what is being communicated. First of all, racism is about economics...always has been...always will be. It's about power and domination. Racism is not limited TO America...but the MANNER in which America is fixated ON RACE is unique amongst the world. That being said...if Kamala were to add the clause "[For the most part], America is not a racist country"...THAT statement would be a more accurate depiction of who we are as a country. Because we have too much data in health care, housing and education (to name a few) to buttress the assertion that America has serious problems concerning race. It's just that relative to the past, our issues are not as bad as they used to be. This country has lost 14 TRILLION dollars in GDP due to racism...according to Citigroup. Like King said...we can either live together as brothers and sisters, or die apart like fools. This upcoming election will play a major role in determining which outcome is most likely.

What hell does Tavis have to endur everyday as a black man. I'm a black man and life everyday for me is pretty good. He might have make some adjustments to his way of life. You can miss me with this narrative of life in America for a black man is hell. What message does that send to young people that a successful black man is still going through hell everyday?
