I once held a tremendous amount of respect for Tavis Smiley. Your politics did not matter. I sincerely thought you were beyond the lower intellect of politics that uses mischaracterization and outright lies to sell a side. Black people do not own the fist pump. And if what Trump was doing, was an attempt to recreate that iconic stance, then perhaps he has more appreciation for "black" culture than any of us tend to think. We in the black church are far more familiar with people defending pastors as "anointed" and defended by god when they themselves have committed sin against their own congregations. It is a lie, to try and turn these into objectionable behaviors, when we have continually accepted it in our community. That you feel it important enough to make these claims in defense of your presumptive voting choice, in my eyes is indefensible. As a voice for our community, you have lost my ear and my respect.

Be careful now....These are your words." I’ll go back to what I’m always say you have to be extremely cautious of Black people who pick white mates". So if I understand you correctly, you are putting Kamala in the same bracket as Tim Scott, Clarence Thomas, and many more like them from the GOP?. I am not much of a Kamala fan myself, but you put any democrat against the other guy and I will vote democrat. Your words " she does not have black Americans best interest at hear". Who does? This is the problem we're facing and not reacting to. Which of the tow parties do you think we have a better chance to get some of things we want and need. Do you think any GOP president would have gone as far as LBG did, if so name me one. Be careful of what you wish for...

I remember watching Kamala Harris on TV when she said she didn't think America was a racist country when she was running for President. Also she was asked by a reporter during that time if she thought Donald Trump was a white supremacist and she seemed insulted by the question and threw the question back at the reporter and asked him well what do you think? I'm sure if Kamala was asked the same question now that's she's the Democratic presidential nominee who I'm voting for, that she wouldn't have a problem answering it.

While I agree with Tavis as it relates to the critique idea. However, in 2024 Democrates have finally learned that there’s a time and a place for everything. With all due respect Mr. Smiley we don’t have time right now to debate about America’s racism and history of racism. It is definitely a legitimate question to ask, but in my opinion it’s a rhetorical question that we all know the answer to. Right now what we MUST do is keep our eyes on the prize. There will be time after the hard fought for WIN to have a conversation about race and racism in America. Continued blessings to you, Tavis Smiley!

The question is flawed. To say that America is not a racist country is nuanced, and you have to be a DEEP THINKER to understand what is being communicated. First of all, racism is about economics...always has been...always will be. It's about power and domination. Racism is not limited TO America...but the MANNER in which America is fixated ON RACE is unique amongst the world. That being said...if Kamala were to add the clause "[For the most part], America is not a racist country"...THAT statement would be a more accurate depiction of who we are as a country. Because we have too much data in health care, housing and education (to name a few) to buttress the assertion that America has serious problems concerning race. It's just that relative to the past, our issues are not as bad as they used to be. This country has lost 14 TRILLION dollars in GDP due to racism...according to Citigroup. Like King said...we can either live together as brothers and sisters, or die apart like fools. This upcoming election will play a major role in determining which outcome is most likely.

@billycarter1798 you should feel good knowing that you are just trolling to trolling. I asked a question you can't answer but instead respecting my opinion you choose to engage in ignorance. Since you don't understand the question why comment? It's Vlad show who cares if they have history he should be the one doing the interview or does everyone who does an interview have to have history first? Before you reply please answer these questions first. Pretty please 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

The point is, which party is going to pass policies that will help black, brown, and poor people. It's not the Republican party. However, you're right as far as pushing presidents to be great and holding them accountable.

First of all, asking if America is racist is not a tough question. Second, she is not denying that racism exists. She even mentioned that the truth needs to be told about the history of racism and the part it played in the past t and currently. So if he is going to voice an opinion, he needs to present the entire content, not just take one part of it and run with it as gospel.

You can miss me with this narrative of life in America for a black man is hell. What message does that send to young people that a successful black man is still going through hell everyday?
