TAWE RIVER KAYAK

This video is of our 6 mile paddle on the Tawe River from Ynystawe to Swansea Marina on the 13 September 2020.

Again a nice paddle - looks like a fun stretch to kayak - really special occurence with the air bubbling up there!

Thanks. Yes, it’s a nice section of river and passes a lot of history. Swansea was named after a Viking called Sweyn. It comes from ‘Sweyns-ey’ which means Sweyn’s Island. Maybe some of your ancestors could have come over from Sweden and paddled on the Tawe river 😂?

Thanks, it's a nice route if you like flat water cruising as long as the water level is not too low (the upper section could otherwise have some shallow bits). There are a few weirs on the upper section but can easily portage around them if you want
