In my part of Denmark we have some of the worlds best drinking water, nice beaches and forests and less than an hour to Copenhagen, where some of the best restaurants in the World are located. You dont need security personel. When entering Denmark your assets are measured. So if you have bitcoins or stocks and are leaving a country without exit tax, you can sell your assets while living in Denmark and only pay tax on the gains won after moving to the country. Tax on salaries for foreigners is a flat rate of 32 pct.

Since a lot of those in the comments keep asking for a list of nations that are mostly free of these.... 'restrictions' (you know what I mean), here is my personal list, having traveled multiple times across the world in the last 16 months, hitting up 5 continents along the way. Below are my top 3 picks, and I have personally been to and been living in these countries during this time. 1. Mexico - Remains the best possible choice for high freedoms, good quality of life, amazing food, kind people, little language barrier, relatively affordable outside of major tourist centers. 2. Serbia - Only country on mainland Europe that has remained very free from the restrictions. Great culture, safe, and affordable. 3. Tanzania - No restrictions, because the 'flu' doesn't exist here, at least it didn't in the eyes of the great, late (see: murdered) President Magavuli. Regardless, the country has no restrictions, but high corruption, prices, and overall difficulty of life makes Tanz a hard place to move to, unless as a last ditch escape from civilization lol I would have to give Georgia and Turkey also honorable mentions, as for the most part people are very relaxed in the country about 'restrictions' - however I can't fully add them to the list, because they have wavered at times, imposing lockdowns and mask fines during various times, and even as they are both open (for now), there is no way of knowing if this will continue. Hopes this helps some of you, stay strong, stay united, stay smart. Peace.

I’m Australian too but I don’t agree entirely, I don’t agree with us closing our borders to our own citizens overseas that’s just unAustralian nor the badly handled rollout of vaccinations. You need to be canton specific when you talk about Swiss taxation, imHo. Taxation in the canton of Geneva is actually quite high, up to 40% + wealth tax and high soc sec, medical but you get the services you pay for so no criticism implied or intended. The canton of Schaffhausen or Zug are likely to be far more negotiable in terms of paying a flat tax but the notion that Switzerland generally is a 'tax haven' is no longer accurate.

However what I have heard from friends there and read in the papers COVID and the EMCO have been a totalitarian push by a government as corrupt as in the US. Andrew - It is possible to grab all the raw data and import it into excel where you can crunch the numbers to fit various personal situations. For example, as someone looking for a country to retire to, I deleted the traffic commute time column and the property price to income ratio column. I then deleted the overall QOL score and created a new formula to calculate a new "personal QOL" score. The new formula weighs health care, cost of living and safety higher than pollution. Finally, sort data based on final "personal QOL" score. Other things you can do is sort on safety, then decide what level of safety is personally acceptable and delete all places that fail that test. Same can be done for health care, etc. I've come up with an excellent "short list" of countries that "tick all the boxes" by simple data filtering this way.

How do you feel about Spain? People with Latin American parents, or parents from several other countries, can easily get their parents’ nationality and be eligible to apply for Spanish citizenship in 2 years. They could get into Spain using the non-lucrative visa, which seems to be the easiest and fastest one to get, provided that you have a certain amount of money in the bank. I really like the weather in Spain, especially in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It seems to have Southern California weather at a fraction of the cost.

12 years ago, I moved from Lyon, France to Geneva, Switzerland. I made 3 times more money but everything cost 3 times more. With double taxation, it is not worth it. Some countries have bilateral tax laws. You still have to pay taxes in your country of origin. Look up the tax laws before moving or contact an expert who deals with such matters. Some places are just too boring!!! Avoid Belgium and Luxembourg at all costs. EDIT: My Belgian bank CBC froze my account for "lack of activity" and my French bank Societe Generale forced me to close my account because they stopped accepting "foreign funds". I think it might have to do with "terrorism".

Portugal is a great place! So relaxing there. Notable cities: Lisbon (must) Sintra Porto Algarve (during tourist season; March-September) For property, just read up on the Squatters rights there. After the dictatorship fell in the 70s, the property rights went to the extreme left. There are stories of squatters squatting for some short period of time and applying for land titleship!

As to quality of life, what are the categories, who does the rankings, how are each weighted, etc. most seen like opinion that can easily be “bought”. So with current media lying, how can we believe what is being “sold”? What things do we count most important? What does everyone want from their government, protect me, get out of my pocket, leave me alone, and let me live? What does every government want, the opposite? So I would measure countries by that standard, and some high on the list might fall greatly, mightn’t they? And another criteria might be which direction they are headed. Venezuela was 25 years ago the wealthiest country in South America, look at Singapore or Dubai 25 years ago. Some of these high on the list we may be thankful we escaped from?

What are you thoughts on Spain? I've stayed there few months, loved the quality of life but didn't experience taxation. I've heard from locals taxes are ridiculous. Also can't believe we were at the same time in Belgrade. I was there just few days ago. Would love to say hi in person one day.

Air quality is very important to me due to having severe allergies and chemical allergies that can be life-threatening from air pollution. In some of these countries, in the photographs, I see dense haze I don’t know what that is so I would love it if you could include that info when you report on a country. Thank you.

You seem to turn a blind eye to oppressive laws in many countries against LGBT people. I’m financially well off and gay. No way that the UAE, Malaysia, Turkey, most of Eastern Europe, etc. are viable options. It would be helpful if your assessment of a country’s attractiveness for expats or retirees would include a social element.

Switzerland is by far the most expensive country in the world. And healthcare is up to you to pay. You will not save money with flat tax there since you will put it in everything else. Don't be fooled. UAE is better in that respect with no tax and way less expensive to live.

Quality of life is like looking for a bf or gf, everyone is looking for something different. I know as a 6 or 7 figure entrepreneur, you will be sheltered from a lot of rifraf, but you see personal freedoms curbed in the west, liberals becoming more tolerant towards violent crime and it slowly inching up, liberals loving to tax, think 60’s and 70’s dumpster fire for some western countries had is coming back PS. I am actually curious what will become of Portugal in 10-20 years time, with them legalizing pretty much every drug, it’s usually boon at first and expensive issues later
