We have a carbon tax here in Canada. It has pushed the cost of everything up. Farmers are paying 10's of thousands extra every year. We have harsh winters here, sometimes down to -40 yet the carbon tax adds an extra $100 a month to my bill. If you’re doing 40 in a useful trade or something then yes you should be able to afford that but if you’re working in customer service or some such basic job then you should be expecting the bare minimum, a room and the basic necessities. If you want more work more hours or get qualified in a trade or useful profession.
