Can you get your measurements for the form off just the hide if you get the antlers and hide without the skull?

I will have a finish work video up on the channel in the near future where I will be going over using the airbrush and paint to finish a whitetail deer. Can we make banjo skins with small medium animals trapping and hunting?
@ClearCreekTaxidermy Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I’m sure you could. You would have to do a hair removal method and then stretch the skins and attach them to a drum ring.

I’ve been doing euro mounts and I’m trying to move into like shoulder mounts and stuff like that, I’ve gotten my horns and everything screwed to my form and all, hide in the freezer, what do you suggest I do next
@ClearCreekTaxidermy2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! If you haven’t already. I would go ahead and salt the hide then pickle it. Then flesh it and remove all meat fat and membrane. Return it to the the pickle over night then neutralize it and rinse it and then apply your tan. Then all you have to do is give it one last rinse prep your eyes, nose, lips and ears then you will be ready to go. Be sure to hit the notification button so you will know when I have more videos available on the channel. Go over to my channel and check out all of my other videos that cover all the steps I mentioned above.

Question? Which Taxidermy supply company do you feel has the cheapest shipping cost? McKenzie's shipping cost is ridiculous!
@ClearCreekTaxidermy3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what type of product you need. If one company has a certain product that I like to use and the others don’t have it in there inventory I will pay a little extra for shipping.

Thanks for this one! Trying to put together a list of supplies and tools needed to pick this up. So we have seen the Deer Mount video, and the Cape (prep to mount video). I read a comment that you tan your own hides....hope we can have you back up and cover those processes as well. After the deer is processed for meat, i know that caping is the next step. I may try to start practice caping does and smaller deer just for practice. After caping, can you cover all the steps from there (when to salt, when to pickle, tips for long term storage in freezer before mounting, etc) to the tanned hide in future vids. Really enjoying the content so far. Thx!!

I am working on a tanning video now. I hope to have it up in a week or two. I will probably do a caping video demonstration of skinning the head of a whitetail and getting the measurements for ordering the form. I will try to do these in order so viewers will understand the process of getting the cape ready to tan. Thanks for watching!

How do you get deer antlers not to stink
@ClearCreekTaxidermy3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! If you’re talking about the skull cap. You can try simmering in a mixture of water and tide washing powder for about twenty minutes. If it is really bad and that doesn’t stop the odor. Rinse it off and change the mixture to plain clear ammonia and water then simmer for fifteen minutes. Then rinse with water.
