Why not leave the torn nose? I feel like that’s a cool feature and you could just paint the form in that spot black or flesh colored.

How many hours did you end up having in mounting him?

Thanks from NC . If I get the bear that is coming to my stand this is how I plan to mount him . Not sure if I’m gonna try and flesh and tan him cause it’s been many years since if done taxidermy due to two surgeries one on each elbows. And I don’t have a fleshing machine. Wish they where cheaper for do it at homers lol . If you don’t have a video on making the rocks could you do one would love to learn how to do one . Thanks for sharing your knowledge and beautiful work.

So, what I notice about a lot of black bear taxidermy is that they do not capture the actual size of your bear. They end up making them smaller and skinnier. I don't know if I am ok with that.

I agree

a lot of taxidermist will use a form smaller because the can "make it fit" stretching a bear hid over the correct form takes effort, very few guys are willing to go the distance, if you find one that does, that's good taxidermist

would be interesting to see a shortened bear skin put over a dog model or armature. to see a 'full grown' bear the size of a dog.
