This is much more than a beginners guitar. I own a Taylor 714ce V-Class ($3,200.00) and yet the Academy 12 is always the one I reach for first. I’m absolutely head over heals in love with this guitar!

This doesn't have to be just a "beginners" guitar. I've compared this guitar to my guild d25, dean exotica, and takamine G series. This plays and sounds better than all of them. There is nothing beginner about the quality and sound of this guitar

I completely agree. Taylor produced a real gem in this guitar. I’m not sure if they even know it.

Couldn't agree more! I've been playing guitar for over 15 years and just picked one of these up. Absolutely love it so much. Was comparing it to a $1500.00 model and the sound was on par.

I became a proud owner of this guitar today. I tried out a few different ones and this is no means a beginner guitar. It truly is the best sounding acoustic I’ve ever played. I’m so proud to be a owner of this model and now a Taylor! Such an amazing instrument! Anyone looking for something no wanting to go over $1,000 this is by far the BEST option and best sounding acoustic I’ve ever played. 👍🏼

they say beginner guitar 46 times to justify charging 2500 for different wood and binding and a small difference in overall tone. Not to mention when you plug it in you can eq and add effects to make it sound like a guitar 5x the price. I bought one just because it sounded great and wasnt expensive. Its wonderful

And now in May 2020 you can get an A12 for $99 with purchase of a higher priced (300 series & above) Taylor. Just got a Taylor I was thinking about and this great guitar for the grandchildren. They want to play it cause "Grandpa did. " Nice A12 guitar.

I went to Sam Ash yesterday and played one. My friend and I compared this to other Taylors and Martins in the $2000 and up range. We could hardly believe our ears. This guitar is so comfortable and resonates so well. I should have bought it.

I ordered one of these a couple of days ago -- it shipped today and should be here in two days. I can't wait!! It's replacing a Fender CD-60S Dreadnought, which I've never felt comfortable playing. It's just too big. I've been trying to learn guitar for the past year now, and I honestly believe that the lower quality of the $200 Fender, combined with the fact that it just is too big for me, really is hindering my progress. I'm hoping that this Taylor will get me past the point I'm at now. I guess I'll know in a couple of days when it arrives. 🙂

I had a taylor 214 over the summer, but I like the A12 better. The scale length is easier on my fingers. The nut width makes some chords easier, the bevel is nice, good pickup, good sound.
@roytube106 жыл бұрын
this attitude from taylor is right on. i am glad someone comes out and says it like they do. you don't have to spend a bunch on a starter guitar, but if you play something nicer you will sound better and play better. it's trusting that advice and then making the upgrade.

I wish they had a guitar of this quality when I was beginning. This guitar is great just bought one and I might by another for slide

That Tecate factory puts out some very nice entry level guitars. That might be because it's only about 50 miles south of the El Cajon facility and that Taylor staff is present at the Tecate facility full-time. Not having played this little guitar but having owned a couple of Taylor-Tecate guitars (my "knock-around", "borrowing" guitars), I would still gamble to say this would be an excellent value at $649.

Before I played 90 % electric guitar and 10 % acoustic. After I bought this guitar, it's other way around 😂 I just love it. Feels perfect.

YEah, I'm not sure it's a "beginner" guitar. A Fender for $180 is a beginner guitar. We have them at our school for class. We would never have a Taylor for our guitar class - beginner or advanced. That said, it is a nice guitar for anyone to play. I paid twice as much for my Martin (which I really like) but had I known this was available, I could have had everything my Martin has - including built in electronics - for 1/2 the price.

You would think that it would be a 12 string considering 12 is in the name
@texhaines99574 жыл бұрын
Taylor notation is the last digit gives the body size/shape, & the digit just before denotes the number of strings and top wood where '1' is a 6 string soft wood top, a '2' would be a 12 string, and 5 or above a 12 strings hard wood top.

Personally I started on a Yamaha fs800 and it was awesome. I’d love to move to a Taylor academy. But it’s more for the brand and the culture behind Taylor. There not many purchased that give you a high end gear for a couple hundred extra dollars.
@Canas944 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Think this is too pricey and too good for a beginners guitar. I certainly would hardly even touch £200 for a beginner guitar. Let alone between £500 an £600. Beginners also won't really need an electric acoustic. But hey. If you're loaded with cash. Sure. Just a heavy investment though since many people give up pretty easily. But anyway. This is much better than even more pricey guitars. I certainly am no beginner and I use this as my main guitar. Granted my budget is a little tight. But I have no complaints using this all the time.
