I've been playing for a while now and have had several acoustics. When I was shopping for another, I found a store that had several Taylors going up to $7800. They all sounded and felt just as good as the other ones (as they got more expensive they got more gorgeous), so I saved some money and got an Academy 10. Best acoustic guitar I've ever had.

I bought one and I am not a student far from it but I got a really nice Taylor for a really nice price that’s only one 16th smaller than a regular dreadnought. I don’t care if it doesn’t have binding or pick guard but I really like the fact that this is the only Taylor that has the armrest that’s found only on $4000 Taylor’s. Call it whatever you want, I call it mine.

I just got mine today. Sounds a bit 'thinner' than I had hoped, but I'm not sending it back . It plays SO WELL.

Totally agree I love how people try to downgrade something that is a tremendous value and try and frame it as a 'beginners' guitar. I've been playing for 20 years and this is one of the best sounding guitars I've played.

Nice review John, and nice work Taylor indeed. I bought an Academy 12 a couple years ago and love the thing! I've owned guitars almost 3 times as expensive that don't sound as good- not even joking. Even Taylor's layered guitars are killer sounding compared to the competition. So much so that it has challenged my thinking that all-solid construction is the be all end all. Don't get me wrong, I've had all-solid guitars so I get it, but Taylor will fool your ears :)

Is it as small and sounds like a travel guitar?

no. it is a full sized guitar as far as Scale. scale length is same as their 12 series. the body is a bit smaller in depth and over all size but not much. it sounds WAY better than any travel size guitar.

Hello , excelent video, but i have a question: what is the best : 110e vs 10e student ? Or what is the difference? Help me please

The Academy 10 will have slightly smaller dimensions, and slightly smaller tone, than the full-bodied 110. If you need a bigger sound the 110 (or 114) is the better choice. If easy playability and comfort are paramount, then the Academy guitars are definitely worth a look.

Ciao ho appena acquistato la Taylor 10e con corde Elixir da 12, io sono abituato alle 10 ma ho acquistato una muta di corde da 11giusto che cambierò appena non suoneranno più bene le 12 per non avere una grossa differenza dalle 12, ti volevo chiedere l'altezza delle corde devo lasciarle come impostazione di fabrica oppure posso abassare un po', se li abbasso riesco ad avere una la stessa sonorità di adesso. La risposta in Italiano grazie

If you're 5'2", you'd likely be happier with the smaller dimensions of the 12e. Of course, either way you can't go wrong!

It would be better if you could go to the shop and have a try. For me personally, I have chosen 10 because I think it looks better.
