Undeniable. The music videos, MTV, TV and movies from the 80s capture the Zeitgeist and it was free. TOP GUN, is how America thought about itself, FOOTLOOSE is how people my age thought then. They didn't have PC thought police telling them what they could and could not say. Nobody worried about offending anyone with the wrong word or pronoun. Today's culture is much too paranoid. I love the 80s!

To be honest, and I lived through the 80s, there was a lot of shit music back then too. The best sounding music survives and that's why people think 80s music was great overall. Today, there is great music and when it gets filtered out over another decade, people will say this is a great decade too. In the 80s and 90s, people were ranting about how the 70s music seems so great by contrast. If you look hard enough, you'll find great music of today, but people overall don't tend to really fish around for music.

She was always there when the club started to become really crowded and everyone was respectful to each other at Cielo including staff. Miss NYC nightlife!

I totally agree there is no comparison to the 80s music and in my opinion there never will be again but you never know what to expect in this world my favorite 80s artist is and all ways will be Stevie Nicks my favorite song by her is on the edge of seven teen I can really relate to that song because I joined the us marine core when I was 17 in 1978 and turned 18 one month later on Paris Island south Carolina the last 11 week program after I graduated they stopped the 11 week program because they said it was to intense for any body to accomplish

Great dance number. This song was popular when I came out and remember running to the dance floor at Gatsby's (the original) along with everyone else. Love Taylor, what a talented performer and what a great voice. I never understood why she didn't become a bigger and brighter star. She is a great actress as well.

The Good Old days! Proud to be from this era when music had meaning! Proud to be Old School!

This is true and great music. I was 13 years old when the song was released, but I remember it perfectly. It's sad how the quality of music has worsened today (saving some exceptions). God save the '80s!

This record is one of the most fantastic I've ever heard in my life. It holds up 33 years later. I'm in tears hearing it - I was 22 when I first heard the thing, and I loved it for sure, but now it really resonates from a much higher place. None of the "crap" called music from the past 15 years remotely touches this. And I'm a child of the 60s & 70s where Carpenters & Mamas & Papas rule. I just know music with a heart.

I could not agree with you more. I, too, am a child of the '60s and '70s. The musical genres and diversity of that era as well as into the '90s made sense. Good production values, lyrics, I could understand. My finest memories were from 1978 to 1982 when I was a bouncer in a disco. The vibe was so positive and dance-happy, in addition to the 60s and 70s music, I grew up with. Now, I have no idea what Cardi B, Nicki whatever her last name is or any other artist has to offer musically, culturally, or whatever. In the future, current artists are going to be considered musical junk food. It is just loud, stupid, and incoherent, and lacks any artistic value. The only thing I hear through my neighborhood these days is pounding base and obscure lyrics that I don't even recognize. I realize that every generation has its own music. But what will they singing and remembering fondly from this generation of empty vessels 20 years from now?

@@bobbybogs6864 SO, so brilliant all that you wrote there. "...generation of empty vessels..." profound and so true. I can't imagine the people and experiences - a bouncer from 1978 to 1982?? Wow.

Thank you for your kind words falling down. Yes, I was not a very big bouncer like you see in your average club today, but I was working in an upscale club in South Jersey and had few problems over the years. No gun shots, no knife fights, just minor skuffles and the occasional drunken brawl, which was easy to dispurse, considering most who participated in said brawl were drunk and got tired of fighting within minutes. But, the good memories of everyone dancing to the Be Gees, Brothers Johnson, Micheal Jackson, and just overall fun "vibe" of the patrons and staff was truly a playground for me. And, we would all know when the night was coming to an end and we would hear Donna Summers sing "Last Dance". Ah, good times. Thanks again for your wonderful comments.
