Taylor Morrison Tampa - Honest Review of Taylor Morrison In Tampa, FL

We were building our dream home in Solivita. It turned out to be my nightmare home. We went under contract in December 2021 and now they are telling us March 2023. The first thing that went wron was they put bathroom windows above my kitchen sink, made the double door entrance too small, then they poured the foundation which has a crack from the front door to mid way in living area, branches off to kitchen, master closet, master bedroom, study and guest rooms. Next a missing rebar which is a code issue, pipes with no sheathing, the track for the sliding glass door has a very poor pebble lip which they stuck shims under to give firmness to track (it still bends if you step on it). Some of the concrete cinder blocks are missing mortar between them. One bathroom window is totally missing. We have given them two inspector reports that identified these issues. One was given to them 3 months ago. Now that we are dumping the house they are going gang busters to cover up all these issues. They tried to pour concert over the foundation that is exhibiting hydrostatic pressure cracks. The cracks go left and right and up and down. We had their VP of Operations out to look at all these issues and he said it wasn’t poor workmanship and all of these things are normal. They think they are going to keep our earnest money. We are not the only ones in this 55 and older community they have tried to bully into accepting their beyond shoddy workmanship. So if you are going to tack the risk have a realtor and a building inspector ready. Might even consult with a construction and contract attorney. Very disappointed in their product and customer relations.

TM has been mediocre for many years. I remember working for them as a contractor back in the mid-90s, but we fired them as the quality of the work they accepted was really poor, even then. Some things never change.

After looking at all the Yelp reviews I would think twice. Been looking at the Charlotte area but the reviews are scary.

Agreed. I went to see new Taylor Morrison house here in Little Elm, TX . It's definitely one of the best I've seen, high ceilings, great floor plans and very nice finish, almost like a luxury house. But after seeing their review in BBB, I would reconsider to get the house from them. It's not like buying a clothes, which you could return and get money back, if you do not like it.

I got done building with them in Texas! We close next week. I’m really happy with the home. Just left from my inspector check out the house making sure it was legit

In Hillsborough county (Tampa) Florida, Taylor Morgan’s are sought after. We live in one built in 2008 and other than a minor roof imperfection and some light switches being in odd arrangement, it seems to be very well built. Nothing that warrant BBB complaints but then again we deal with them directly and can only attest to the home itself.

Thank you for your comment. I do not have a huge problem with any builder as long as we stay on them. This market is a little more difficult with all the buyers out there.

If you go with TM be sure to record all conversations. We didn't and are paying a dear price for not doing it. My wife, interior designer, our realtor, and I brought it to their attention and were ignored. The as even elevated to new levels but TM had our money and that is all they cared about. RUN!!!!!!

Building with them now. Appreciate little things like air sealing, a laundry room floor drain and included washer pan, keypad lock. Just have to stay on top of them for construction glitches

i feel like this is a local thing we have a house form them in texas, (plan are vary local so id look at the website) but plan here are super nice even the cheap ones

Lance Mohr yeah personally I think the ones Taylor Morrison build in Texas are a lot nicer but I know that is because of the demographics of the state and the land that we are able to build on. Although most of the plans they build here I have not seen on any other locations or States they build in

In Fulshear, Texas, in Bonterra, I would give Taylor Morrison a No star review. We are almost done building a home for my parents in a 55+ community. We have built several homes and this has been the worst experience ever. I came in to town (from 5 hours away)to do a walk through with the construction manager and was canceled on 20 minutes before our meeting. We hired a 3rd party inspector to inspect the house and confirmed with the construction manager twice via email that the house was ready for an inspection. The inspection could not be completed due to the house missing plumbing fixtures, no access to the attic - disappearing staircase was on the floor, not having the gas hooked up, dishwasher was not hooked up, and missing the oven vent. A month later when we were told the house was now ready for an inspection, the house has electrical and other issues - oversized amps for two appliances, wrong polarization of outlets installed, oven vent installed but is dented and won’t turn on, leaky shower head. Stay away from Taylor Morrison.

He literally had nothing relevant to say. He doesn’t discuss future resale value. No comment on his experience with building materials or design. Just an average realtor with literally nothing but a solicitation at the end that you should hire a real estate agent. Funny how he begins by saying that his rating is not based on the salespersons friendliness but he’s willing to rate a very large company on one sales person not responding how he would like to his questions. Just a huge waste of time.
