Watching Sander’s kill at 10-8 in the first set is stunning. The arm speed and whip motion in the slow mo replay is insane. Offensively, this team is a PROBLEM. Who do you serve?!? It’s lose lose. As their defense gets better, these guys are going to run the AVP

i know you guys don't do that kind of videos anymore, but for a player who is trying to transition from indoor to beach it would be so useful to get advice on trainings and drills to jump higher from guys like taylor and troy. Hope you'll include something in the future. Good vid as always boys
@nickcraddock66222 жыл бұрын
TLDR - Beach approach - up and down penultimate step close instead of lateral bound like indoor. Exercises - Strength building(squats, RDLs, split squats,DLs) Vertical training(box jumps, plyometrics to the max, beach reps) Biggest difference in jumping is the indoor broad jump vs. beach straight up and down - Indoor is a lateral bound moving through the air forward, but beach is all about gathering forward momentum, converting to vertical momentum at a relatively stopped final step close, then going straight up and down(obviously a little forward motion but almost nothing compared to indoor). For a visual, look up Taylor Sander pipe attacks as an indoor player vs his bounce in this video at 5:00. Indoor he flies across the court in the air, almost landing on the other side of the net, but here he takes off almost in the same 2ft of sand he lands in. Same player, two very different approaches - same lethal swing. For training, you want to focus on two things - building strength with good form and range of motion, and improving fast twitch explosive reps. Generally for strength its the classic combo of squats and deadlifts, but for beach it's good to also throw in bulgarian split squats and single-leg RDLs - these emphasize single leg strength/stability which is huge when playing in uneven sand where every step and jump will never be the same plane of a surface. For the fast twitch stuff, Box jumps are always good, and solid plyo routines with hurdles and explosive bounds(bonus points for sand plyo workouts) - Skate hops, up downs with max jumps, max jump blocking followed by a hard pull and dig, etc...
@SnailKingGY2 жыл бұрын
@@nickcraddock6622 I love the addition of single leg RDLs and bulgarians, and you're on point with beach being much more stability and balance dependent than indoor. I would add bosu ball squats or wobble board work, or any exercise that is done on unsteady surfaces, try different stances (half squat, split step, etc.) on these surfaces in order to simulate awkward and different digging and passing positions you will inevitably encounter. Biggest part of these exercises is control, meaning slow and controlled eccentrics (i..e going down into a squat) and fast/explosive concentrics (up portion of a squat), maybe add in a pause at the bottom to really challenge your stabilizers. Good thing about this kind of stability and balance work is that you're at less risk of injury, have a longer career, and will most likely keep all the motor mechanics as you age.

maybe lifetime of highest level indoor training, which is more focused on explosiveness and brute force (also heavier ball). And he is just a gifted athlete
@1dudecrush2 жыл бұрын
He’s extremely gifted and put ridiculous work into it as a kid. My coach in college was part of the BYU coaching staff when he was there; he said that Sander showed up with all the fat trimmed on his approach, swing, etc. and all they had to do was coach him on minor adjustments to make him that much more deadly. The swing mechanics thing is just repetition and being gifted/having the bodily intuition to know what will give him the most speed and power. Same with his vertical.
