According to Taylor, this song is about remembering who you once were before you changed to suit the preferences and ideals of another person. She said that she never wanted to change so much that she wouldn't be able to recognize herself anymore. It's a bittersweet song, and the lyrics are so poignant. Her voice is also perfect for it. She doesn't get enough credit for being the intellectual that she is.

+alamsyah madani I agree with you. She sounded amazing and looked amazing with her hair like that and her country accent. She tends to have a soothing sound and I don't think she should really go with pop. It tires a lot of people when they try to dance and sing really loud at the same time. She had originally gone for country, and I don't think she should've turned into pop though I will support her through everything. She seems more like a princess than a queen. If you know what I mean.

I watch this periodically looking for my daughter, who was in the audience that day. A close friend of mine was working for Vevo back then and she went above and beyond protocol to get my daughter and her friend into this show. It was the highlight of their teenage lives!!! Taylor continues to inspire my daughter and myself to this day. I want to thank VEVO for continuing to post the videos from this performance.

I disagree with this comment and find it shocking,or maybe rude..I grew up listening to Taylor and you don't know how it feels like to hear Taylor not singing new country songs anymore...We TRUE Taylor fans are truly proud of how far she has come,the fact we keep on saying "We miss the Old Taylor" because the country Taylor is the girl we fans fell in love with,the Taylor who sings with her guitar (Yes,she still uses her guitar but not most of the times unlike now) and the Taylor who writes country songs because that is where she came from...But since I don't want a fight,I'll repeat,we fans are truly proud of how far she has come..If you are a fan of Taylor or a listener of Taylor's song,you should be respecting the opinions of the other fans of Taylor.
@ekyweky3829 жыл бұрын
Sparkling Glitter I also grew up listening to Taylor and just hate it when people say she changed like no she is still the country girl we fell in love with she is just trying something new. Miss this... I know many people will contradict with what I think, this is purely only my opinion. Her voice was just meant for acoustic-type and slower songs, and if you hear her voice for live performances for pop songs, it's very "tight". Don't get me wrong, I love her 1989 album and all the songs in it and I hope all the best for her. Still a swiftie and always will be.
