August from the tour is magically beautiful. She really like this song and is visible that she enjoy to played it.
@MannyD903 ай бұрын
Another fun fact: the names of the characters come from Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s daughters, who are named Inez, James, and Betty. Ryan and Blake are two of Taylor’s close friends.

I enjoyed hearing you say you’d go back and revisit August now that you have the added context. The connections are fun to make with all three of the trilogy songs: like Betty saying when she was young she knew everything but James maintaining that he’s only seventeen and knows nothing. August and James both singing about her pulling up and asking him to get in the car. Taylor is big for so many reasons but this kind of writing that prompts Swifties to start sleuthing is all part of why she’s become such a force. You’re becoming one of my favourite reactors btw, so please keep it up. Side note: I sat through hours watching that Beatles doco and wasn’t bored for a second. Absolutely fascinating time capsule. I have such a newfound fondness for Ringo 😄

Taylor has been friends with Paul McCartney for years. He has been at the Eras tour in Europe to watch the concert.

She’s great friends with Stella McCartney, too. Sir Paul came into the Kelce Super Bowl suite to say hello to Taylor. Mr. Ed and Jason Kelce were both flabbergasted by his presence. They’re close enough to be like family. Love it.

Not surprising it’s Paul McCartney-esque as she and Paul are good friends, and she’s undoubtedly influenced by his music. He always sings her praises, commenting on her ability to write beautiful lyrics. They recorded a song together I believe, although I can’t remember the name off the top of my head. Taylor learned to play guitar on a twelve string!
@amycoleman36883 ай бұрын
Agreed…all modern music can find a trace back to the Beatles. Their impact is crazy considering the short a,out of time they were together. Btw-Taylor and Paul are friends. She interviewed him for Rolling Stones in 2020 and he wrote the song Who Cares? about Taylor. He was just at her tour in the UK. Another fun fact, Taylor can play a 12-string. She learned after a guitar teacher told her when she was young that she couldn’t learn to play the 12-string after she had asked about it. Great reaction. I’m assuming cardigan is next. It’s my favorite of the trilogy. Peter from TTPD, released this year, would be a great listener after that as there are some parallels.

It crazy! I think George was 26 when they split up! Thanks, Amy! I'll look into that article and check out the song. I'm planning on Cardigan next, but I can't find the interview part, so I may do something else first. I'll get to Peter soon too.
@amycoleman36883 ай бұрын
@@IzzyIzenstain There's not an interview about cardigan on long ponds. It was a single from the album so there's a cool music video that Taylor directed for the song and a "making of". This song is crazy for me because I didn't freak out over it like everyone else did when it first came out. But every time I've listened to it over the last 5 years it slowly invaded my brain and has now become one of my favorites. The video has always been amazing to me. Very imaginative. Thanks for the response. 😃

I don't think telling a girl you thought of her while sleeping with another girl is the best idea, though...
@plnkblue3 ай бұрын
that’s the point; james is oblivious to how naive he is. he thinks he’s being genuine, but he’s putting augustine down in the process by trying to “prove” to betty that it was a mistake to sleep with her. taylor captured the perspective of an idealistic but dumb teenage boy so well jskdjd

Interesting you picked up on The Beatles. Taylor has been a guest over the years to Sir Paul McCartney's big house parties. Usually they occur around Grammy season. There are a few pictures of them chatting at different events. But I think they talk more when she's at his place since there aren't cameras around therefore being able to have a thorough one on one conversation with him. I'm sure they have talked about music and exchanged a few ideas here and there. Also, not too long ago, he attended her Eras Tour and was seen dancing with fans and singing along to her music. He looked like he was having a blast. And Taylor is friends with his daughter Stella. She has worn some of her merch over the years. Stella is even mentioned in Taylor's song "London Boy". Plus, Taylor listens to older music. Her parents always had music playing around the home from James Taylor (whom she's named after and got meet and sing with) to Def Leppard. She has mentioned her love for Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Stevie Nicks. So there is that musical influence from these big music icons.

one of the guitars has a rubber bridge piece; the guitar Taylor has next to her on the stand also has that. Didn't notice until now that Aaron Dessner is playing a Fender acoustic --- they don't get huge amounts of love. Taylor and Aaron discuss the rubber bridge vintage guitars in another part of the film. The one he gave her was from the 1950's, refurbished plus the bridge modification.

You might want to check out her Grammy Museum performances... she has one for Wildest Dreams, Out of the Woods, and Blank Space. All more of her "poppy" songs (so lyrically kind of simple), but stripped back so it's just her and her instrument. She also explains her thought process for Blank Space, which definitely warmed me up to it because I used to HATE hearing that song on the radio 😂 I will say, because she is playing and singing, that the instrumentation for those performances isn't anything special really. I think Wildest Dreams has her doing the most (not just repeating the same chord pattern over and over)

Izzy, The performances were given in 2015; during the 1989 tour. What you should do though, is get the full interview: she gave a presentation to producers and audio engineers about writing and producing her albums that lasts about 40 minutes. All 4 of the live performances they've released as separate videos are added to the end of the talk. Taylor Swift NOW Listening Session with Taylor Grammy Museum kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYeqk52pr9OmaaM with the performances, about an hour altogether. fwiw, Taylor Swift NOW was a series of promotional videos, sponsored iirc by AT&T /DirecTV. The NOW videos included a lot of behind the scenes things about her early videos, right up to a number of short BTS clips of her writing songs for Reputation (there is a 45 minute video of those, back to back, available) . AT&T also sponsored the Super Saturday Night concert in Feb of 2017; her only live show that year, the last before Reputation dropped. (It was the night before the Super Bowl; Taylor also did commercials for Coke. Pepsi was sponsoring the Super Bowl halftime show, so Taylor has never done one. ) There is also a Chicago set she did as a surprise to some fans where she did some of Reputation (and, ATW) as a solo acoustic thing, just to surprise some fans she wanted to meet.
