Betty: “Summer thing” August: “ Summer love” The difference and depth of their perspectives
@SivaChance2 жыл бұрын
You know what's crazier about the way she linked the songs together? Look at their respective audio timestamps where the lyrics link up and note the exact second it happens. In betty at exactly 2:45: 'she said James get in, let's drive' In august at exactly 2:45: 'Remember when I pulled up and said "get in the car"?' Also, In betty at exactly 3:13: 'Betty I'm here on your doorstep' In cardigan at exactly 3:13: 'and you'd be standing in my front porch' Her mind!

James, Inez, and Betty are the names of Ryan Renolds and Blake Lively's daughters (their James is a girl), in fact, months, after they had their 3rd baby they hadn't released her name, and this song, was a way of doing so. Ryan was friends with Betty White. Taylor is friends with Blake and Ryan, Ryan has a cameo in her "You Need To Clam Down" MV, and Blake directed Taylor's MV "I Bet You Think About Me", which was a vault song on her re-released Red album. Also, you can hear James voice at the beginning of Taylor's song "Gorgeous" saying gorgeous.

Not only does she say get in the car in august as well as in this song but it’s said at the exact same time in each song. Betty 2:45 “she said James get it” August 2:45 “remember when I pulled up and said get in the car” The other links are Cardigan 3:15 “You’ll be standing in my front porch light” Betty 3:15 “Betty I’m here on your doorstep” Also in cardigan it’s “high heels on cobblestones” and in betty it’s “I was walking home on broken cobblestones” also “when you are young they assume you know nothing” and “I’m only seventeen I don’t know anything” And the cardigan and streetlights of course😉

i love how Taylor shows the level maturity or at least the very different understanding of their relationship from Betty and James with such simple words. Betty, in Cardigan: "When you are young, they assume you know nothing", "'Cause I knew everything when I was young" and "but I knew you" James, in Betty: "I'm only 17, I don't know anything but I know I miss you"

what always amazes me about Taylor Swift is her story telling. When she gets to the part of James showing up to the party, every single person that I know or I've seen react to this song, starts asking what will happen. It really gives you this sense of anxiety and anticipation for what is about to happen. It is a talent to be able to write a song that tells a story, which then creates that feeling in everyone.
@Mravenrocks2 жыл бұрын
You said it perfectly "when it's good music it doesn't matter if you lived through it" and I would add that the best music lets you relate the song to your life even if your life has been 100% different from their life.

If you liked the guitar part you should watch the performance she did in the American country music awards. It was just her with her guitar and a man with an harmonica. I really like that performance. I just binge watched all your Taylor reactions, really good stuff.

Fun fact, Joe Alwyn was playing/improvising on the piano, singing the chorus from "if I showed up at your party..." and they wrote the rest of the song together linking it back to Cardigan and August. August didn't make it to your playlist!!!! ☠ 🙈😂 I can't wait for you to listen to Evermore, even more fantastic songs.

To be honest the lyrics in this one made me angry. But it was a good song. I like how different the style of each song was and I think its a really interesting concept having the love triangle story told through 3 connected songs. It seems so unique and a really creative way of storytelling through music. Cardigan is definetly my favourite out of all 3, both for the lyrics and style. Also connected with Cardigan the most so at this stage its the only one out the 3 to make my playlist. 🎵😊

this song make me hate James... he blame it on Betty (because he get jealous), other girl (because she ask him out) and his age (because he only 17) so his apologizes not even sincerely literally full with excuses but i guess he try🧍🏻
