Saw her perform this live in concert; she prefaced this song with a speech about how you shouldn't let others' opinions and judgments about you affect how you feel about yourself - the only people's opinions that matter are those who truly love and care about you. I still remember the sincerity of her words, and as she sang this beautiful song while being transported around the stadium in a forklift contraption, you can see her trying to make eye contact with as many people in the audience as possible, even those in the nosebleed seats. She truly is a performer in a class of her own. I feel the success and acclaim that she has earned is well deserved.

I listened to 1989 (Taylor’s Version) for the first time yesterday, I’m a newly converted Swiftie and this song resonates with me so much, it’s the first Taylor song to make me cry. The lyrics cuts deep in my heart as I understood every word she was singing. I had to let go of someone that I cared about deeply but wasn’t getting the same love back in return and it’s safe to say that I’m getting “clean”.

Clean was a song that I heard many fans loved, but I just had not brought myself to listen to it enough to appreciate it. But with Taylor’s Version paired with some things I’m going through now, my love for this song is astronomical. The metaphors, imagery and astounding feeling of achieving a feeling of being “clean” after a suffering relationship is done so well. With Taylor and Imogen’s vocals, this really makes for such a personal, emotional and hopeful song. Definitely one of the best off of 1989 TV

congrats on your achievement!!! If you're a new swiftie, there are a lot of other songs that you might be able to relate to. These songs just motivate me to not give up no matter what. - One of my personal favourites is "this is me trying" from Folklore! - The song "Innocent" was written to a specific person, but its about how no matter how old you are or what mistakes you've made, you are still innocent. You are not your mistakes. - Then there's the song "Begin Again" from Red. It's about being in a new relationship, but I think about it as new beginnings in general. - Finally, the song "long story short" from evermore. At the end, she says "pushed from the precipice, climbed right back up the cliff, long story short I survived", and I'm planning on getting a tattoo inspired by that lyric Again, congratulations on your sobriety! You got this! I can't wait for you to discover the rest of her music

I lost my 10 year old son due many years of struggling with my addiction. Even though I got clean and fought relentlessly with every fiber of my being, I lost the battle.. The last visit we had before he was adopted, we were sitting in my car and he asked me to put this song on, he said it reminds him of me. With tears streaming down our faces, we held each other with this song blaring from the speakers. The lyrics will forever be engraved in my mind. Without a doubt the hardest day of my life, there are no words to describe the hollowness in my heart. Bubba if you somehow happen to see this please never forget how much I love you! And how proud of you I am, you’re the strongest boy I know! I miss you every second of every day! Not a minute passes that I’m not thinking of you. This song is exactly why I laugh in peoples face when they say ‘Taylor swifts songs are all about love’, sure there are hints of love in this song but this song is something so much more. This is a song is so vague (lyrics) that the ‘somebody’ in this song can be anyone, a lover, a mother, a friend, or anyone! It’s just so beautiful! ❤

This is a song that I completely relate to because I loved a guy for many years and I wasn't myself and so he turned me away a couple times and then we had an argument and so I blocked him completely and so I suffered a lot with depression because I wasn't myself and so hearing this song made me realize that I'm finally free from his picture inside my head and that I'm finally clean and I'm myself and with a man that finally loves me for being me. Thank you Taylor for this amazing re-record the song that I love on 1989 and for giving me strength to love myself again.

This song is so close to me. This helped in countless ways. And the realization of being clean because I'm 'not the opinion of somebody' is everything she gave me.

I'm a swiftie for a while now. 1989 has always been for me an album about friendships, fun, love and happiness. Unfortunately, I am not in the state where I can think of all this happiness. This song is the only one I can think of that makes me keep going on. I hope that soon everything will go back to normal, and I will be able to stream 1989 full album as I intended. As of now, thank you for this song

So sad to read that. I don't know about the problem but I know that the night is darkest right before dawn and regardless how long the rain lasts the sun will rise again! 🌞

It will. I promise you. I had the same feelings during the original 1989 era. I made it out to the other side. I know that you can too. ❤

Taylor really marked my healing from the abusive relationship I've been trough. Red TV being released two days after he broke up with me helped me deal with the pain and the feeling of loss. Listening to Dear John for the first time in December 2022, I saw how wrong this really was. And I would sing Clean hoping one day I would mean it. Now we have it, and suddenly, I feel clean. I think I'm finally clean, singing along and meaning it. Thank you, Taylor

This will forever be my favorite Taylor Swift song, the words and music perfectly and absolutely align with what I personally felt 10 years ago, no other song ever did that for me in that way. For me, it is overcoming trauma and feeling exhausted yet liberated once you look around and you realize that you did it. It's because of that feeling that I'm so grateful every time I listen to "Clean".

Today I reached my 1 year anniversary of being clean. I am a totally different person than I was on March 23rd, 2:33AM. This song means so much to me, especially since I sh’d from SA. ‘You’re still all over me like a wine stained dress I can’t wear anymore.’, ‘By morning, gone was any trace of you, I think I am finally clean’ lyrics mean so much to me. This song has shaped me in a special way, and I’m thankful for being able to celebrate my anniversary to this song.

this song is really meant to heal anyone who was drowning in their problems knowing that this version has 104 beats per minute, which is the right tempo for CPR

what i love sm about clean is that it’s a song that’s brought so many people together because they deeply understand and relate to the song. if you’ve been sober, if you’re finally clean, if you’ve finally gotten rid of a toxic person in your life, if you’ve stopped hurting yourself for who you are. this song has brought so many people together and it’s like a camaraderie of people with these shared feelings. and like taylor said, “the moment you realize you are not the opinion of someone who does not care about you, it’s like you’re finally clean”. taylor, this song is a masterpiece. it’s brought so many people with shared experiences together. and now you get to own it. 🫶🏼

I cried, in relief and proudness not in doubt and desperation like I did for months, that I can finally relate to this song. I’m finally over someone who hurt me so much. The rain which became a flood that drowned me helped cleanse me.

I remember listening to this on my bus rides to high school, crying over my first breakup at the innocent age of 15. I was so overwhelmed with my emotions and didn't understand why it made me so sad, as I was learning the nature of heartbreak. At that time, it felt like the worst possible thing. And here I am, many years later, in medical school with wonderful friends . . . and that moment is just a faint memory. Little did I know there were so many big things to overcome!! Thank you Taylor for sharing your gift with us

The first cut is always the deepest and never gets better but them scars harden and just distant memories are left behind you. Eventhough,,so many unfortunate people in the world 🌍 crave for just one chance to feel that thing called love. It's a beautiful thing but can be deadly too.

Funny how I was crying while listening to this song before, hoping that I'll be clean. And 2 days ago I saw something and finally strengthen my resolve to accept everything and to let go. And noww I'm listening to Taylor's Version! And yes, yes, I think I'm finally clean. ☺️
