Singer and songwriter superstar Taylor Swift gave a commencement speech for NYU's Spring 2022 graduation at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday after accepting an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the institution.
In the 20-plus minute speech, the Grammy-winning musician spoke about facing criticism while growing up in the music industry and suggested “life hacks” to the new graduates.
“Never be ashamed of trying. Effortlessness is a myth,” she said.
Swift also advised graduates to “learn to live alongside cringe” and accept failure.
She concluded her speech by telling graduates that making mistakes is inevitable but “when hard things happen to us, we will recover, we will learn from it, we will grow more resilient because of it."
"As long as we are fortunate enough to be breathing, we will breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep and breathe out. I am a doctor now so I know how breathing works."

I'm amazed at the liberal garbage she spews. At one time in the beginning she must have had a "handler" tell her enough. However, the cat was already outta the bag.

Not a glance of any script. Every little part of her words and actions describe what kind of person she is. Her wisdom and strength, the guts as a fighter is what we look up to, and one of the biggest reasons of her being the biggest mentor of our time.

Well deserved! And not because she wrote a song called “22” but because her life course has lived the merits of this degree by performing at the top of her craft for 15 years and counting. All the while remaining humble and appreciative which not many people can say whether they are college grads or in general.

Absolutely loved this... everyone in life who is successful pays their dues by working hard while constantly adjusting and changing to be even better. Taylor is the epitome of a transformational leader in her industry. There are things we like and don't like about everyone, but for those detractors who posted here because they do not think she has paid a price, they have not walked in her shoes and lived her life. We all have our ups and downs, challenges and moments of adulation. Kudos to Taylor for all her accomplishments!

I love that Taylor Swift is a songwriter. I can't sing but I just love music. I am a creative writer. I get a lot of pleasure from listening to music and I wrote poetry as a little girl. Taylor I was listening when I were a teen and I was turning 30! Thanks for Mean which I felt and related to many, often my family who loved and love me still when celebrating and when they are simply being mean. Congratulations, you have always been wise beyond your years and during good times and those when it was a challenging day that took everything to get me out ; eventually to a place I found solitude. A place on top where the trees were do large and dense I could happily , meet someone who shall remai nameless for nearly 15 years, only one I'd remain so long during a park omentum in my life which lasted a year; somehow my situation was so difficult I'd not considered a solution . Typically however there was one and listening mostly to 1989, that was the time period, I'd write poems I wrote to perfection, listened to yours, and realized I was not dying unless I didn't take steps to remove implants, one of which had broken in my body. I had them put in during the time issues began when there were issue of them breaking especially by companies using silicon. Once removed I had to wait 3/4 of a year before I could choose a new pair. It was very difficult to do anything but score from a dealer and get as high as imaginable until the day I had them removed. I already had a new stronger pair to have placed in once the original was completely better. Many nights I'd get so high behind several tress I almost require someone to get me. When I couldn't find someone I'd attempt to stand all the way to Port Authority, including the subway ride. Generally I'd tell the bus driver to Nj to kindly wake me when we reached my stop. When they didn't I'd stay by other family friends. I have my new implants for almost a decade and doing well. Drugs have gotten slowly worse to where they barely can be felt. So thanks for the music you wrote that helped me through. Hopefully Fenty l will soon no longer be added to many drugs and It will be like both 15 years ago and even better back to 15-20 years in hindsight and I was lucky to see! Btw any hardcore drugs, heavy barbiturates , opiates, and numerous benzodiazapine s I did not drive nor do I suggest it. You will very likely wake in the hospital unsure why u are there.
