I bet, you would love the live version on the Reputation Tour as mashup with Long Live and especially with the speech before. 😉

I think New years Day is a great standalone song. Not every song can be fast. Slower songs are sometimes better.

I love this song and end to rep. Taylor and Jimmy Fallon are close friends, and the line "squeeze my hand three times" is in reference to Jimmy Fallon's mom. She always did that to him as a kid. He was super emotional about Taylor commemorating his mom in one of her songs! ❤❤❤ I strongly suggest folklore next to show her phenomenal songwriting and storytelling.

The song wasn't a reference to or commemoration of Jimmy Fallon's mom. That's what made her performance of the song so heartbreaking and beautiful on his show. She had written and recorded the song a long time before Jimmy's mom passed. And I don't think his mom was ill for very long, do Taylor couldn't have known about it before writing the song. Taylor didn't know until he was talking about it on his tribute to his mom in his monologue before her performance that squeezing his mom's hand 3 times to say I love you was something he and his mom shared. This is just also something Taylor happened to do with her boyfriend too. You could see how emotional she got when she sang the line and you could hear the audience gasp and we could see Jimmy and her both crying and hugging after she played the song. It was one of the most beautiful, unscripted coincidences I've ever seen on a screen 😭😭😭😭

I’ve never loved an insightful response and yet been disappointed by an opinion more. I agreed with everything you said wth it being a great closer and a clever metaphor for an ending promising new beginnigs etc but oh man…..I love this sweet little song and replay it all the time. Still a super smart reaction as usual. I just wish you’d loved it as much as me lol. Appreciate the honesty though.

love this song. i see it as its about loving your partner and wanting to be with them not just for the fun times, but the messy hard ones (the party vs cleaning up the mess hungover as hell the next day). Its beautiful but depends on the mood to play it

Um... Be consistent. Saying the song is too slow for you is an opinion and a preference you are fully entitled to have. Calling the song too empty...with zero justification... When you've just been sitting there talking about all the gorgeous layering and building and instrumentals? That piano and acousic guitar alone with the lyrics and story telling make it rich and complex. Add the strings, the excellent cadence and pacing and it sounds a lot like you don't know what you are talking about. That just sounds like a jaded too-cool-for-school wannabe trying to find something to use to put an exponentially more talented artist down. It isn't a good look. You are allowed to like or dislike what you want. People aren't going to let you slide for being hypocritical in your reactions 🤷

The irony of this comment is wild lol. You say I’m allowed to have an opinion and preference yet are upset with me because you don’t like what I said. You’re misunderstanding me when I say it’s empty. It lacks fullness in the context of 3 dimensional space for the listener. It’s simple and there’s not a lot going on. That’s not good or bad, It’s just not my taste here. Fans like you need to detach your identity from your opinions. I wasn’t being rude at all when conveying my opinion on what I disliked AND LIKED with this song. If you can’t handle honest opinions without getting upset, my channel isn’t for you. Hope you enjoy your weekend 🙏

@@SeanStaxxMusic but you didn't express an honest opinion. Your reaction to the song was in complete contradiction to how you rated it, physically reacted to it, or initially discussed the musicality. As I said, you saying that it's just too slow for your tastes is a valid opinion. The rest is hipocricy. You keep using words like empty or not "3D". As someone who has studied music and voice for 20 years, this is one of the most meaningless and vapid statements I've potentially ever heard. And you are expressing this as a statement of fact about the song. It isn't accurate. Your feelings/ego don't make it accurate. If you want to express the opinion that piano ballads aren't to your taste, cool beans. Say so and move on. And it's something I've seen you do song after song after song and heaven forbid anyone call you out on your nonsense and we must be the unreasonable Swifties 🥴🥴🥴 You love the sound of songs, the lyrics, the production., blah, blah, blah... Then you rate it like a 3 or 5 and gleefully claim you'll never listen to it again. I don't know who you think you are fooling in these reactions. If I had time to care, I'd be interested to go back through your "reactions" and guage your average score for her work. I'm not a Swiftie. I love a large proportion of her music and I admire her generally as a human being. She's up there, but not by any means is she my favourite artist. You have an agenda. We can all see it 🤷
