Yes, this is Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas), a musical project that plays metal versions of popular Christmas songs. They celebrated their 20th anniversary this year and have so far, depending on how you want to count it, released 9+1 albums. It consists of numerous metal musicians which change each year. Most of the performers are Finnish, but there are others, like Floor Jansen here, and Elize Ryd from Swedish metal band Amaranthe often sings in the concerts.

The Finn's are very invested in the Christmas tradition. They do this Heavy Christmas show every season. They bring together a vast array of well known metal musician to collaborate for this special performance. Marko often performs at these annual shows.

There is another version, Floor singing this song very pregnant. By the way, you skipped the humorist part at the end where she wears a white dress. A producer tells here something important behaind the curtains. Floor nods as "I understand" the guy walks off and Floor looks at the camera, shrugs her shoulders clearly indicating "No idea what he was talking about" and then she enters the stage. I laughed about that as that is the real Floor.

Uhm, Floor was not performing with Nightwish here..... Sorry. Floor has besides Nightwish also a solo career. She had a long interview with the Charismatic Voice channel recently and she said she used to practice in front of the mirror for thousands of hours, being a perfectionist and vocal nerd. But nowadays singing for her is on automatic pilot. She does not think about it anymore. She only works to get the lyrics automated. But it did not come easy. Her father told on Dutch TV a long time ago that she worked like a dog and led the life of an olympic sporter. Not so much physically, but in terms of healthy diet, regular sleep and balance (she overworked herself twice in her life, very severely). Now she reached that point that her body knows what to do, without thinking and even when she is sick.

The concert series Raskasta Joulua is a production that was first performed in 2004 and has had multiple spellings including "Raskaampaa Joulua" but the name has intentional double meaning "Heavy Xmas" and "Burdensome Xmas". In practice it's just music performances by well known heavy metal artists and the arrangement is much heavier than the original song. However, this was just Floor performing as solo with the house band and if you want to hear the closest thing to a Xmas song that Nightwish has performed, you have to see the "Walking in the Air" live performance from around year 2001. You can find a pretty good copy on KZbin with the title "Nightwish (Walking in the Air Live Performance) [HQ]".

I believe Floor has perfect pitch or something close. I have the curse of perfect pitch and her pitch and tempo is incredible. Most singers can not even do this using Auto-Tune - she does it live.

Artists like her are as rare as unicorns.I would like to introduce you to a young artist, also a unicorn, from Norway, Angelina Jordan. Angelina at the age of 7 in 2014 auditioned for Norway's Got Talent, singing "Gloomy Sunday" by Billie Holliday. In the finals, now at the age of 8, Angelina sang George Gershwin’s” Summertime". Of ten finalists, Angelina received 46% of the vote. Since NGT Angelina has released on youtube and facebook >180 covers of some 80 different artists. At the age of 12 Angelina was invited by Quincy Jones to sing the surprise opening number "Fly Me to the Moon" at his 85th birthday celebration in London's O2 arena. Quincy called Angelina the most talented youth he has seen since Michael Jackson. While 13 Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent, singing her stripped down bluesy jazzy arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody". Angelina received a standing ovation and Golden Buzzer for her performance. Queen loved her version and allowed her to copyright it. I love this arrangemet. It's definitely metal but classy and respectful to the original. You wanna see Floor hold a long note? Check out Nightwish - Ad Astra at Deichbrand Festival 2022. There is a video of the full show, songs are time stamped in the description and this is how they close the show. It's a fun watch, but maybe not best suited for a reaction video as it's mostly instrumental and Floor sings for maybe a minute. But damn what a glorious minute.

I usually have to listen to his version from vinyl-album, because so many artists sing this on radio and ruin my Christmas-feeling. Both Floor and Luciano are natural talents, and practised very hard to make their performing sound effortless. I can trust that they deliver any song without turning red or faint out at the stage. Tarja's exotic sound first drew me to Nightwish. Sound so familiar and so foreign at the same time. I started to think that her native Finnish was the key - the paparaptic sound and dipthongs gave her voice room to find such brilliant colors. I always missed that with the later singers - even Floor with her better range. But hearing Floor sing in Finnish - most color I've ever heard in her voice. Just exquisite!

Since you have been talking about the "inner smile" and the bright sound, here's a rendition of "Brindisi" that should make you smile. It's by two power metal singers who decide to knock off "Brindisi" while on a Skype call. And to think that she never uses classical technique while singing in her band, but her range and power is definitely on display. Of course we really like to hear this praise for Floor from a professional that really knows. But, just to dot the i's...this was at a yearly event (Raskasta Joulua --> Heavy Christmas) in Finland with all kinds of metal artists celebrating Christmas together. So it was not a Nightwish performance. It does show where Nightwish is coming from. NW apparently is not the only band in Finland that manages to find the connection between classical and metal music in such a brilliant way.
