Brooklyn broke is a play on words....when someone used to be called Brooklyn broke it meant they dressed like they were poor but they were actually wealthy. Jake G ALWAYS dresses in those ripped jeans and cheap plaid shirts with unkept beard but hes rich. So i get that line....Your brooklyn broke my skin and bones.....like i think she liked that abt him. But the twin flame bruise paint you blue i think she means did that whole scorpio twin fame burn u like it burned me? Since blue part of fire is the hottest??? Idk abt that line for sure tho.

Oh wow thanks for explaining that! That makes the Brooklyn broke part even better!! As for the twin flame thing, twin flames are known to be kinda like soul mates but they're built to not last and they burn really really passionately and then end painfully. So I took that line to mean the damage that comes with the ending of a twin flame relationship (the twin flame bruise) "painted her blue" as in overwhelmed her with sadness (being blue) but also provides imagery of being blue from the bruise (like the term bruised "black and blue"). I don't know if I explained that well but that's how I interpreted it so far!

?twin flame is 'karmic' and so you smooth the edges off each other (bruising, often blue, un bleu is a bruise in french)

YES, this took me back and broke me as well, and then I thought about my daughter who was heartbroken at her last birthday party over her lover. I wish I could endure every heartache for her. 😳 Jake G. hurt a much younger Taylor so deeply. He really used her.

You're right. In the original version the lyric is "You talk about your past thinking your future was me." In some lyric sites they say "tell" instead of "talk". But here Taylor uses "taught" very deliberately in my opinion. In the original version she went easy of JG by using the word "talk", but here she goes cut throat by using "taught", as in a teacher/pupil or parent/child relationship to emphasize the age difference between them and especially his condescending attitude from the very beginning that she tried to ignore. Not any more. And please don't apologize for crying. Being embarrassed at crying in public is a taboo that's gotta go. I so love your honesty.

@@KelseasComments The bridge was so good I was literally jaw dropped. I can talk about it all day. The way the melody is intense as she explains the "hell" the relationship put her in. But then how the melody and her voice is angelic and peaceful as she starts to describe how good it was when she says "You who charmed my dad..." That contrast of explanation/description logic/emotion bad/good is perfectly written.
