I became interested in Taylor Swift's music when I first heard Shake It Off, which is a brilliant piece of songwriting. Except for Dolly Parton's This Dumb Blonde Ain't Nobody's Fool, I had never heard any woman write and sing about how to deal with misogyny before. It was and still is a kickass response to the misogynist critics who were attacking Swift for "going on too many dates" -- a criticism that would never have been leveled at male a male music star -- and I just loved that! It doesn't surprise me at all that Swift goes out of her way to be kind and caring to her fans. She's a class act, inside and out. My Mom would have liked her. That's the best compliment I can think of.

I was a little turned off when I heard about her bodyguards casing the place before she entered. Why do celebrities feel they need bodyguards to keep them shielded from the public? Especially at a Starbucks in Connecticut? It's a bit insulting - and I don't even live in Connecticut.
