for some depth as to the meaning behind this track - it's aimed straight at scooter braun. scott borchetta was the founder of "big machine records" and was the one who signed taylor to their label when she was 15 i believe. she saw him like a 2nd father and they were very close. she had always told him she wanted to purchase her masters of her albums from the label if they were sold off. without telling taylor, he went and sold them to scooter braun. scooter braun is manager to justin bieber, ariana grande and taylor despised him. he was married with a wife and kids but taylor was aware of how dodgey he was and of "side pieces" he had. taylor alludes to the fact she told his wife about this and she is now his ex-wife. she got the kids and the house in the divorce. the lyrics reflect this. scooter braun was also under investigation (and may still be) by the FBI for possible financial crimes. the other song which is of a personal nature and ties a bit into this is "my tears ricochet" which talks about the fall out with scott borchetta. the whole selling of her masters is the reason she is now re-recording all of her albums so that she owns her own music.
