I am definitely not in T.T.'s demographic. I am a WWII baby turning 80 end of Oct. I just wanted to say that I love Tayler's stand up She is just funny! As a primary care doctor I find T.T's honesty about her mental health is likely to be so helpful to so many people. It is so honest, so funny, and so human. I appreciate Taylor for many things, including the parts of honesty in her comedy about mental health and therapy and normalizing that, and how it's a journey. Between her comedy and various podcasts, and Jennette McCurdy's book tour interviews, it's let me do some deeper introspection and move my journey forward. So a huge thank you to Taylor, and also to Pete for this podcast episode.

As an obsessive seeker, I actually love Taylor’s approach to spirituality. Trying to map the Infinite is INSANE and I think there is a place for throwing your hands up and saying, “Yup. It’s a mystery” as long as you’re actually and authentically satisfied with that and you’re not just avoiding the impulse to explore because of fear about what might or might not be found within that exploration.

@Carbon Proksi The last sentence you wrote is true...the rest is 🤷 Science/Spirit goes together...while "God" as described by most religions is sketch;there is definitely an eternal Consciousness/Energy that pervades all of and orders creation.We even have a mathematical equation to represent said presence. God is,period.Religion however is man's idea of what God is.Im not fond of religion,but am 100% for faith and spirituality!
@visionbishop95172 жыл бұрын
@Carbon ProksiSpiritually is what the great founders faith practiced,after the death of each they were turned into religion.All faiths are in fact the same,at the core;as they should be coming from same Source.They are all based in Love, conscious actions,proper thought,and understanding that we are eternal beings connected to an eternal Source.Religous ppl make dogmas, separation,fear,and start wars in the name of "god". You'll know them by their us vs. them doctrines..."they" are God's chosen special ones,and everyone else is doomed,evil,unfit,etc unless they convert to the religion. Buddha wasn't Buddhist,told his followers NOT to pray to him(as did Christ),and Not to make any graven images to pray to....How many different statues of Buddha do we have that ppl now before now? Spiritually is the awakening and yielding to the eternal that which is within and without.Thats the biggest lie of religions....that God is (out there somewhere ) and somehow we're so jacked up and doomed without(insert whatever creed,ritual,priest,or practice), when in fact God is within us all! Religions were supposed to be a tool,not the dang goal.Ppl in power however recognized it's hold over humanity and how easily it could be used to control while groups of ppl. Ppl practice religion.We live spiritually...it's a fundamental shift in our paradigm and way of thinking/living. It's more love,unity,and help focused.

@Carbon Proksi You don't need my help for that mate! They're more than happy to tell you what they think/believe themselves.End of day it doesn't matter, end result(of all) is the same...only question is hiw much pain do you want to experience.

@Carbon Proksi If growth is not the goal,Convo becomes useless at that point.My "opinion"(there's an intelligent Source) is backed by science.Im not to concerned with the holier than thou fanatics and what they believe (I welcome them to those thoughts). A world without a Prime Source is in essence useless,and we may as well commit Hiri Kiri because it doesn't matter🤔

For someone that talks so much about God, it seems he just cant vibe anymore, he's lost in his pseudo intellectual character he created, and that's an ego construct he just can't let go, in short like so many others, left unchecked, his narcissistic tendencies have grown like a tumor, that's why he doesn't hesitate to call himself one of the greats. For the non American viewers who want to buy Apollo Neuro: I live in Japan and couldn’t buy Apollo Neuro, because they only sell it in America. Contacted customer service but they just won’t take my money. The SOLUTION is: You setup a transaction with an America based forwarding service. You can order the product to their address and they are going to mail the product to you. For a fee ofc. It is a little bit more expensive, but it is the only way I could find. Also PAYPAL does not work with Apollo if you are not from America, so use your credit card straight.

We are all one God and in this life, we happen to be having the human experience. While simultaneously having all other experiences but can’t consciously tap into all experiences at one time because that limitation is part of the human experience. We can be aware of it, but we can not consciously experience it at once. Which is why part of the human experience is finding connection and understanding for anything, everything and anyone. That is also why it happens to be one of the hardest things for humanity as a whole. And keep in mind, understanding doesn’t inherently mean agreeing. Understanding does inherently mean connection. Which is what God is, connection I.e. everything. So TAYLOR, THAT is why your hard work matters, that is why your life matters because if your life doesn’t matter than no one’s life matters. If your hard work doesn’t matter, then no one’s matters. That’s why we grow up hearing “lead by example”. Please do not think that I am advocating for people to walk around sporting a God complex when I say ‘we are all one God’. If that is what you take away from the saying, then please do some deeper thinking.

I adore Taylor. Old school is a compliment dude, why did she hear/read it as a criticism? The whole idea behind old school comes from the idea that ‘they don’t build them like they used to’. Maybe her gen thinks old is just old? Appreciating hard work and dedication is a good thing- as Pete said. Maybe old timers look back too much, not seeing the new. However, looking at the new-always into the modern, can forget the foundation of the past that gets us there. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏻♀️ What a hideous saying! Buuuut… not everything old nor everything new is the end all be all. Generational differences are great and necessary. We can’t judge each other by our own lived experiences. Each gen has their own poo they have to fix. Also, trying new things can be very life affirming and mind expanding. My head hurts. Trying not to be negative can be exhausting lol. Look at that, great convo has me thinking and expanding my view.

Pete mentions this positive form of envy and I just learned that in Islam/Arabic there are 2 different words for envy. One is the more negative one that we use in English, but the other is completely loving and positive and just genuinely being happy for the other person. I feel like Pete is using that second one here and I wish we had another word for it in English 🤗 definitely envious of Arabic for that 😂

We are so limited by language sometimes, amirite? Love any comment that teaches me something. Thanks! :)
@checksanity2 жыл бұрын
@@dallinorr6929 From my brush with linguistics (during my anthropology degree), my understanding is that language and culture are in a symbiotic relationship. As in, language forms and reflects the culture, just as the culture is formed and a reflection of the language used. Ex, cultures where snow is significant tend to have multiple words to describe it. To be clear, several cultures could technically “speak the same language”, but then dialect and local culture will create something new. Such as English speaking snowboarders and skiers have their own specific terms for snow. English also borrows/steals a lot from other languages, French, Spanish, German, etc. Still, if enough people or a big enough figure decided that a new or different word was needed to reflect the idea of the positive side of envy. It could become adopted and widespread enough to be added to common vocabulary. Ex, podcast is a new 21st century word. So are: selfie, bromance, doomscrolling, stan/to stan, side-eye, etc.

I pretty recently discovered Taylor Tomlinson’s fine work on Netflix, very funny and also strangly mature for someone that young. There were many times I thought "wait how does she know about that..?". It goes without saying that it’s only going to get funnier (and darker) with age. Pete Holmes is funny, I thought Crashing was really great, unusually great even. All that bottomed out when I saw him torpedo Louis CK for the Parkland jokes which wouldn’t bother me at all if it came from a non comedian. I don’t believe anyone thinks those jokes were actually mean jokes about the Parkland shooting, and let alone any comic, who also knows all the inner workings of being a comic. I don’t know if it’s the backstabbing nature of it or the kicking someone who’s already on the floor that gets to me more, either way I thought that was really shitty.
