That' a possibility.... It's also possible that Taylor has been on the receiving end of some negative things that she believes Scooter is at least partially responsible for. Just suppose... If Scooter makes his $ off artist, then he relies on their sales and positive image. Anything that Taylor might have inadvertently done that caused that artist to be viewed in a less than positive way could effect sales. Taylor's star keeps rising while his cash cows level (or drop) off... he can't be happy about that. Taking her down a peg or two could be good for his personal bottom line, so he orchestrates a few things.... a possibility... And I doubt very much that Todrick is the only one who had a negative relationship with Scooter.

Ok take a seat y'all. Here's my opinion. As an aspiring musician, this entire situation and episode is a perfect explanation of my worst fears. Not many people understand the hard work and time that goes into writing a heartfelt, PERSONAL song. So when you think of someone who hasn't even participated in the creation of this art OWNING the song is truly bone chilling. And I believe with all of my heart that Taylor is not having a "temper tantrum". And it boils my blood when I think of Yael, a founder and CEO of a cancer treatment facility, talking like this. Like how would she feel if suddenly the entire company was just handed to someone else. And the fact that people believed what she said makes me even more angry. Taylor Swift is standing up for the ownership of HER MUSIC. And, yes I believe what Lauren said: that so many people have gone into the process of her music, and yes, they should all be compensated for their work. But do you know who else that includes? TAYLOR HERSELF. She should own her art, she should own what she wrote and composed and dreamed of. And she is standing up for that. And to think that people are "picking sides' is truly sickening because this is not a game. We are dealing with the lives and careers of so many people that created the music that we listen to in the car or at a party. This is about being fair and giving people the right to own what they have come up with themselves. Taylor is not painting herself as the victim here. She is shining the light on an issue that has been hidden by people's greed and lust for money. Taylor is doing what too many people are scared to do and she's ready to go through 2016 all over again just because she wants to give the new generation of artists a shot at owning their music. She is warning us to watch out for rats in music labels and to fight for our rights as musicians. She is being brave and that should be respected. #IStandWithTaylor as should the rest of you.

This is so perfect. You're saying everything I ranted about to my friend in voice messages PLUS MORE. As a singer-songwriter myself, Taylor's statement was so extremely helpful and I am so proud of her. This is also why I refused to sign with a record label even though I was offered the chance to sign and I can easily get a standard record deal in my country if I wanted to... But I don't want to. Not if I'm signing away my rights to owning my own work. My aunt (who is a successful artist in my country and was the first person to win the Croatian equivalent to a Grammy in her category and also the only one to win it twice) told me her own story of fighting for the rights to her masters and beating the system like a boss, and that's what made me be very weary of my options. It's tough though, because it is still to this day EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to achieve grand success without a label... but to me, it's just not worth signing away my masters. Especially when I see what every one of my fellow singer-songwriter friends and acquaintances go through with their own labels. Fucking insane. Thanks, but no, I'll make my own pie and eat it too.

YES thank you for defending her like this! Everything said was on point. People need to pay attention to the facts & realize how messed up this whole situation is. She doesn't deserve any of this. Seriously, in 2009 she was ripped off of her award. In 2013 she was slut shamed for all the guys she dated. In 2015 she was manipulated and stabbed behind her back. They keep blaming her on social media for bringing this to the public EVEN THOUGH, they posted it on Social Media. This issue NEEDS to be brought to the public eye. Absolutely top notch coverage on the subject, Lauren 👌 Ever since JoJo’s label issues began 10+ years ago, it’s really opened my eyes as to how sleazy and tricky the music industry (especially the legal side of things) can be and made me become more educated when it comes to artists signing new contracts with labels and the history/reputation of said labels. If this were simply about money, Scott Borchetta would have offered Taylor a chance to buy. It's purely about revenge to get back at her for not bending to his will and leaving his label.
