Proved the point ....you can only make them more efficient on miss hits. All these drivers hit on the screws will go the same distance within a couple yards.

I spent an hour on the launch monitor with a pro club fitter. This club just beat out the epic flash for the driver that fit me. . I hit it a bit further and straighter. My nephew is a course manager so got it much cheaper then retail. I would never pay the price these drivers get. That being said I average 25 more yards per drive and a much straighter ball flight with pretty consistent grouping. Played last Friday, first time. Hit most fairways and the ones I didn't were just off the fairway. I had approach shots 2 clubs shorter on the course I played many many times. I'm happy.

Sir, thanks for the very in-depth review! Love the sound of the M5

Best info I’ve seen on the M5 so far. Answered the questions I had. Thanks and great video 👍🏼. Now time to go text one.

Lol shot 23 went 301yards carry... 166.5mph ball, 14.3launch and 1881 spin. I'd buy this driver if I'd get those numbers!!
@myopenmind5275 жыл бұрын
SuperYoda7 you’re right. Spend the money on lessons until you can hit the center of the fairway 280-300 yards.

Well i got fitted for new clubs and i hit all the new brands to see which was better for me as did not care which one suited me so he told me no to new irons as mine would not need changing but ended up with new M5 and Titleist fairway woods as all i was chasing was consistency first time owning Taylormade clubs so i will let you know after a few rounds great review

Probably the best review I’ve seen so far 👍

Great test, Neil. I like the parameters of which shots you excluded. My only nit with the new TM drivers is the price increase over the previous. It encourages me to keep playing my M1.
@GolfMonthly5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Howie! Yes, price is fairly steep which is a point I really should have made!

Good review but there's absolutely no way that a mass produced golf club will be CT tested...then have foam injected and them CT tested again...zero percent chance of that happening

Haven't added any distance in the past 10 years by changing drivers. I have added accuracy and improved on dispersion, but no distance shift.

I play the 440cc R9 and found the Motore 65g shaft that suits my swing best. I prefer the accuracy and feel of the old R9 compared to the M1. Getting 280-310 outta old technology. Can't justify spending a fortune for tiny gains if any

Correction it's the 422cc head not 440

Nice review but I read somewhere think it was mygolfspy that Taylornade are using c.o r to measure if there club is legal but actually the usga use ct to measure. I'm sure you guys know that answer more than me though😀

I understand the rationale behind setting up the two drivers identically and neutrally, but I feel it may be missing a trick. If you were to get fitted for both drivers to determine your optimum settings, that would surely be a better comparison. For example, if the new club allowed you to dial in better numbers, then surely this is a positive? I recognise this will only be based around the tester's game, but unless you are showing robot numbers the human element is significant anyway.
@GolfMonthly5 жыл бұрын
Very true David. The issue is that if the two drivers were set up differently, lots of people would come on here to say that we had changed the clubs to get the results we wanted. You can't really win either way! We just tried to do a simple, fair review

What happens to the injected gel at 2,3,4, 5 years? Will this club still be conforming 5 yr after purchase?

Good question - we will try and put that to them!

I’m torn between the M5 and the Teeless driver.
@jeanferret94975 жыл бұрын
You will always say the new models are better or lose advertising revenue. We are down to talking fractions and for the club player level will be negligible. On positive the M5 does look great at address.
@GolfMonthly5 жыл бұрын
Let me flip this by saying - why would a manufacturer release a club that wasn't better than the generation before, even if it was only by a tiny amount? That wouldn't make sense

You are getting as bad as Taylor made Neil there brain washing the public to make you believe your getting more distance. All drivers I've tried in last 4 yrs go same distance give or take 5 yards, it's all about looks and forgiveness for manufacturers now. I wouldn't buy any new driver ever again the cash only lines the pockets of the tour pro's. Still not found a driver that out performs my Epic so that's here to stay.

Hi Neil, I always value the reviews Golf monthly do for us all but can’t help but feel that leaving the clubhead speed off the results is unfair - for obvious reasons.
@GolfMonthly5 жыл бұрын
Thanks JP. That wasn't intentional. I think we showed a screen with them on the M6 review. Apologies - all I can say is that from memory they were comparable. In fact, I tested the M5 first so I couldn't be accused of not having warmed up. Appreciate the feedback though - will add next time!

when the resin is injected how do anybody know where is settle's to eg front of the driver or bottom.or back? what if the club is lifted up or moved before resin gets solid

There are two small channels where the resin sits, one in the heel and one in the toe

Marketing BS IMO. I can't believe a mass produced driver will have every individual face tested and the correct amount of foam inserted in each one. Yeah next Santa Claus exists absolute marketing twaddle.

@MrOitoyboy5 жыл бұрын
I believe Titleist only bring out a new model every 2 years? Could be wrong. Taylormade are just ridiculous with their rebranding the same old shit. Maybe if they got it right the first time they wouldn’t have to spend so much on R&D and advertising and their DRIVERS WOULDN’T COST £5000!
@J55TTC5 жыл бұрын
MrOitoyboy 2016 Titleist released 917. 2017 it was the 918 and 2018 the TS 2/3. The only real difference you’ll find is Titleist don’t over market the drivers - funny - they don’t sell as many as TaylorMade either.... all manufacturers are the same. Have to agree with you on pricing though £500 for a Driver is ridiculous!
