You are the first tutor I have found who explains about adding the extra 1” (1/2” each side) for sewing the Princess seam together. It makes so much more sense. Thank you 🙂 I noticed that you did not add the 1/2” you came in from the centre back waistline for zipper bulge, I have always been told that you must add it, do we have to add it?

Hello and thanks for the video. How do you determine the armhole dart size? Is it 2 inches for all?
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing2 жыл бұрын
No it is not two inch for all. I have large boobs so I have that 2 inches help me to get a nice cup. If you have little boobs you could use 1.5 .

Hi maam thanx for video M beginner just seen your video now,i understand the pattern but my problem is when putting sleeve on this pattern it doesn't correspond especially on armhole there is extra,so my question is do i add to sleeve those allowances so it can match,thanx waiting for response patiently
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
There is two things that you could do. Ensure when you are sewing, take the exact amount of sewing allowance you have left. You you don’t do that you are going to get an excess amount. Another thing. When you have drafted your sleeve pattern double check to see that armhole and the sleeve are the same measurement. Remember also that whatever extra allowance you put on your bodice pattern it should also go in the sleeve. Best TaylorMade
@pinkmarshmallow6663 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Your tutorial is so easy to understand for beginner like me. In your pattern, you already included seam allowance right? So when I'm tracing it on the fabric, i do not have to add seam allowance for all part right? Do i just cut the fabric exactly the size of the pattern? Thank youu ❤️
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
If you add the seam allowance on the pattern no need to add it back when you are cutting. Just cut as you normally would
@sheemphilips62343 жыл бұрын
Is it only if am drafting directly on the fabric i add all those allowances or am i also to do this on the pattern paper?
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
You can also add your seam allowance to the paper also.

Really nice tips and very clear exploration. Mam how to measure armhole depth and sleave measurement.
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. To get the sleeve cap measurements you take your bust divide it by 12 and then add .5 inch. For the armhole it going to be your bust divide 12 plus 1.5

Well explained ma. Pls my back panel is always longer in length than my front. Is there something am not doing right?
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing4 жыл бұрын
Hello, thank you for stopping by that happens because we do not have boobs at our back. What you need to do is find the difference between your nape to waist at the back and the from and add that value at the front and blend it to the side. I might just do a tutorial explaining how to do it. Thank you for watching and subscribing to my channel
@maryamyusuf47242 жыл бұрын
Good day ma'am am a new subscriber and I have a question.on the princess dart when you extend dart to the armhole it becomes longer than the dart that wasn't extended so it doesn't tally while sewing? thanks
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing2 жыл бұрын
Hi welcome to the channel. The reason why I extended the dart it’s because if want to avoid shortage when sewing. Remember you are taking out measurements from the armhole so you have to add it back
@dannibishop50163 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. Im a beginner in drafting and sewing. So this is still confusing. Maybe its the seam allowance and the adding and subtracting (of the bust area, waist area etc). Can you comment below and showing me and example of the dart and seam allowance? And show me and what numbers i have to use to divide my bust area and waist area etc?
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
Hello sorry for the late response When you get your chest line, assuming you use 1/6 of your bust + 1.5. You will now input the dart. When you do that. You have to add on the chest line your bust measurements plus ease. On the waist you add 1/4 of your waist plus whatever the value of the dart you use
@revathyfebi25543 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Ma'am. Such an amazing tutorial. By following your pattern I have made 3 dresses and all came out well. But I have some doubt can you please help me to clear it. In front armhole we have given 2 inch extension, is it possible to extend 3 inches. As most of the time when I joined armhole dart I found shortage of fabric and I cut tit to have a balance with neck panel. Can you please help.me.
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
Am so happy you were able to accomplish 3 dresses. Kudos to you. The extension that you take at the front depends on the amount of dart that you took out . If you took out 2 inches you have to put it back. Also remember when you are sewing you should start from the bottom. Hope this helps best

@@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing I'm very sorry for the delayed reply as my phone was complaint during that time. Thanks a lot Mam. Happy to inform you that now I'm able to do Princess dart easily only because of you. And it works well on every one. One more doubt Ma'am .Do we need to reduce the shoulder width according to the back neck depth . Is there any particular maths
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
@@revathyfebi2554 the with of the shoulder is your preference. It depends on what you and your clients need and the check particular style. The depth also is a personal preference. I do not know of any math that calculates it. I hope I have answered your question. Best and congratulations 🎊🎈🎉🍾 your on your way to be a pro soon

Sister this is the simplest princess dart tutorial but I don't understand how much width I should give to my darts ,Is there any specific standard measurement for it or how to measure it with different sizes please reply to me If anybody else knows too please reply me I struggle with tht a lot
@TaylorMadeDesignsSewing3 жыл бұрын
Good morning, the size of your dart depends on your bust size. If you have small boobs you can do one inch, medium size like 38 you could do one and a halfinch and for large size like me you could do 2 inch dart.
