during these Covid practice times, I figured out, draw&fade spin myself, by trial and error just trying to get it close - but hearing from all these guys that this is what they are thinking all the time, it has sent me crazy down the rabbit hole - and now, this is the 1st thing I think about, after I see the lay of the ball, on how I approach the shot. I never thought I would be drawing & fading pitch shots - but, that's what I'm doing.

Its kind of upsetting for us regular folk that to have a high-tier short game you need new wedges constantly

It makes sense that when these players are striking the ball in a very small area on the clubface they will wear the grooves in that small area relatively quickly. Players of lesser ability spread the wear out over a larger area. The good news is that as long as one does not practice enough to have that tiny strike area then they really will get little benefit from new wedges.
