Exactly. I understand not fighting it if it’s a close battle but if you know you put buses on a lead run and your chase has a very questionable call, call it! He can pull the data off the cameras too so it’s like just protest the ones where you know you won and don’t worry about the ones you aren’t confident in..

Also something I meant to say in the video is that whether it was or wasn’t a straiten. That mistake I made left it in the judges hands. If it weren’t for that I had a solid margin. So regardless it’s on me. Also. When I said “this would have been the time to protest” I didn’t mean. It was such a wrong call that I should have. What I meant was it actually lined up with what protests are for. Protest aren’t supposed to be subjective like “I think I did better” it’s supposed to be about technical things. Like hey. I think I didn’t straiten. Or if I won that battle. Stephen could protest saying hey. I think he did straiten. It’s supposed to be only for technicality’s. So that’s what I meant. The call was fair just a little inconsistent to others throughout the event. But regardless, It was mine to lose. I’m disappointed in myself because I had all the tools to win that round. And lost on a silly mistake. My personal opinion on straightens is different than the judges but there’s is well within logical range. So it’s just one of those things. Also shoutout to Stephen. He did a great job and didn’t make any major mistakes like I did. Proximity doesn’t matter if you make a big mistake. That said though I’m of the opinion in comp drifting that you should have to be straight straight for more than a micro second to call it a straiten. I’ve seen people who were still drifting but understeer for a second 0 because the front wheels were strait. Which to me is silly. If you think about it everytime you transition. You’re straight at some point. Wheels and everything. So where do you draw the line. But that’s across the board just my personal opinion. I like looser rules on “0’s” especially in the chase. like having to be 3 tires off vs 2. Etc because I don’t like seeing someone lose off a technicality when they won the battle. That just makes the next battle less exciting. For me It’s a matter of if that mistake gave them an advantage. If they straiten and speed up to close the gap. Or go tires off in the lead which throws the chase driver off. Etc etc. but that’s all just my opinion. It’s the judges choice to determine what they believe is a 0

Yep at the end of the day it’s a judged competition. If the judges are bad enough drivers and spectators will both lose interest and the series will die if they don’t fix it. As far as your run, I would say you straightened “a bit” and that put it in the judges hands. Keep getting better. Sucks you didn’t get more runs because you have not gotten enough practice in that car.

Taylor you have to start protesting for your wins. The nice guy thing just because you don't want to look like the guy who's crying over a call has to stop sometime. You don't go to these comps just to drive and waste tire or to get seat time you go to win. I understand the content helps pay for things but who doesn't like a cash prize and maybe a big check or trophy to add to the collection. You would of won quite a few comps this year if you protested the calls you have to stop thinking it's definitely your fault for loosing the battles. This battle here you can tell his chase run was way way worse then yours was. He was car lengths away and he straightened way more then you did in the corner before the last zone. You won that battle and whoever is judging these deals need to get way more camera angles if they had that they would of seen that threw all the tire smoke from your car. Idk it just seems like every comp this year you went to you were thrown out for bad calls or the judge favoring the other guy over you and in my eyes thats not how you bring drivers back to your events

To be fair I was half expecting it from this series. Lol granted this call wasn’t terrible like the last one. Atleast they had justification this time whether I agree or not. Last time I just lost for no reason. I had a Better chase with an equal lead. So I didn’t expect much from this round. But I also was like man not again. Lol watching it after it made more sense why they called that than in the car. But they also didn’t call it a straiten on someone else who did the same thing. Inconsistency is what’s annoying. If your super hard on straitens. That’s fine. But if you flip flop then it’s like okay where do I compromise if I need to. I decided to shallow up as opposed to drop tires off track. In hindsight wrong call.

Tough one. I think I can see where they're coming from - on the onboard (23:35) you can see your wheel go from left of center on the bank to right of center in the transition, then back to left of center for the correction. I don't think it's ever perfectly straight but they don't have the onboard so it'd be hard for them to tell. But you also wouldn't have needed to make a correction that if Stephen hadn't put one (maybe two? can't tell with the smoke) wheels off track at inner clip one. I guess that's what you get for keeping it on track, maybe should have just followed him off. The rest of your lead and chase was definitely better than his by a long shot.
@helplmchoking
@helplmchoking Жыл бұрын
Yeah I can definitely see where they came from, and I agree with Taylor where it actually did LOOK like he'd straightened a bit, if you didn't see the onboard footage or a really good angle to see it. Tough call, probably could have fought it but I think he's got the right attitude, honestly just save that kinda protesting for super serious comps and pro level stuff when it's a really unjust call. Like maybe he could have pushed for a OMT but honestly, that's just how it goes sometimes
@Taylordrifts
@Taylordrifts Жыл бұрын
Yeah as I mentioned. Straitens are still somewhat subjective. Everytime you transition you’re strait at some point. So it’s about where you draw the line. I personally am a bit more lenient. I don’t think being close to strait for a split second is a large enough mistake to be considered a 0. I think you should have to actually come completely out of drift to be considered straitening. But that’s just my personal opinion on it whether it’s me or somebody else.

Pins in the front rail and a couple of posts or giant axel stands to relieve winch tension. Buy some transportation wheels they are called GUNWHEELS for the corvette they are skinny wheels with solid rubber tires to save space instead of squeezing the car with the super wire wheels.

In situations like this where possible I’d love to see you talk to the other driver and share their opinion regardless if they don’t agree it would be cool to see their view

All the smoke made the illusion of a straighten. It was close though. Don’t feel bad about it. Just have fun 🤙🏼

The vette looks SO much less violent on clutch kicks with the new clutch! Before, every time you clutch kicked the in car cam made it look like you hit something haha

It is a wild difference in the car too! I can actually shift fast now before I was so violent if you tried to power shift it.

I certainly feel for you and sympathise. If you remember I was driving my converted lorry to Wales (12 hours). Lorry was completely reliable and i qualified third despite not driving the circuit for six years. Unfortunately I had a talent failure in the first race and finished 5th. Then was punted out of second in the second race and then had someone spin their car into mine and mashed the side of the car in. Yay, motorsport.

Man, idk. I’ve struggled watching your videos lately. I don’t even know what it is. Maybe I wish you would drive more. Have more cars that you don’t mind actually having fun in. I’m not sure what it is. I would hate to see you fall back behind and not get ahead though. I’m not trying to sound like I’m hating at all. I wanna support you as much as possible. I have your merch, and I watch your videos. That being said, I’m very proud of the progress you made, don’t get me wrong. You’re doing a lot more than most of us. I just have really really high hopes for you.

Pressurize the bus, fans in one of the front windows, pressurize the interior, go on roof with soapy water and spray and look for bubble to find where leaks might be.

Im sure im not alone when i say id like to see you do some drag racing, since your so analytical. Drag racing doesnt have many discretion based victories. Purely based on a metric. Which is great.

You should build a race fuel tank with pump on board the bus to get rid of the fuel cans.. Would be super neat!
