This was such a fun hike! I really enjoyed this trip and putting the video together. Franconia Ridge is one of the most beautiful parts of the White Mountains and I was so excited to be able to be up there for sunset. This was Kali's first overnight hike and I think she did so well! Hopefully there'll be many more trips like this in the future. Thanks for watching!

Sunset was beautiful its fun when you can have those all to yourself and Kali of course. Can't wait for the snow videos hopefully with some yellow leaves still intact on the trees to add for color. I never thought to set my duplex tent up on a diagonal when on the platform I have to try that out and see if it sets up easier that way!!!

Tip for inflatable pads with dogs: get a sleeping bag liner that's stretchy, and put the pad inside the liner. It helps protect the pad :D

Great sunset! Great hike! Great dog! Great video! I was worried that it might get too cold up there this time of year, but you were prepared, clearly. Looks like a great trip. Speaking of that, I do hope you are able to take up your through hike of the AT again. Would you pick up where you left off, or do another approach, such as a flip-flop?

Were the tentsites mobbed with people? I spoke to a ranger that told me they had over 100 people some nights, which is crazy. I stayed at Hancock Campgrounds this past August and Lincoln Woods was packed! Was this during the week, Mon-Fri? Thanks for any answers if you see this. Great video!

Use the foam pad for the dog. When I do overnights with my dog, he is a much happier camper if he can get some good sleep on the pad. He is about 80 pounds, has a great coat and really doesn't seem to mind the cold. The only time he wants to snuggle up is down into the mid 20s. Matter of fact he puts off a lot of heat when the tent is closed up. He wears a backpack too as I don't feel like carrying all the food he eats. Pro tip, use the dog backpack as your bear bag when hanging food for the night as bears love dog food.

I have almost 20 years of experience hiking & backpacking with 2 different Golden Retrievers. Suggestions: Off leash training, then you can use trekking poles. I still tie her in campsites or she would have her nose in everyone's cooking pot! Separate food and water bowls. They usually say a dog can carry approximately 20% of body weight. Water sources for Kali were abundant on this trip but carrying extra water for the dog is important especially in warmer weather. On another note I ended up buying a small free standing tent to cope with tent platforms. Interestingly I scattered the ashes of my first hiking dog on Mt. Liberty and counted it on her 48 list. Kali looks like she will become a great backpacking buddy.

Fall is a wonderful time to go backpacking! Little to no bugs, cool temps, and amazing scenery. Once upon a time I was hiking down a 14,000' mountain in Colorado and I passed a guy and his dog. The guy was wearing no pack, and might have had a camera or something in his hand. His dog on the other hand was wearing a pack that looked to pretty much be stuffed to near capacity. And I don't remember the dog being a large working breed or anything of the like. I don't know, maybe his dog loved carrying stuff for him.....or maybe he was just a jerk.

That morning at Liberty Spring I got up and packed real quick and saw the sunrise from Liberty peak and on to Zealand Falls Hut. Probably my favorite day on trail. Actually Eliza Brook Shelter - Liberty Spring - Zealand Falls Hut - Pisgah Hut (I also liked seeing it in a previous video) were all really good days. Ah man, now I'm super reminiscing. Awesome. I did the same thing....sort of. I went in at the Lincoln Woods trail and up Flume, then onto Liberty and stayed at the tent site. Was my first overnighter. Looking to do my second soon!

Six more 4000 footers and cute little Kali gets her NH 48 hiking patch! 😊. Great video as always Taylor... a chilly night for you two, but you did it! And that sunset from the ridge looked absolutely amazing! 👍🏼 🥾

Oh Kali! You are such a helpful pup. Holding your mom's foot down so she doesn't float away. And keeping the tent from blowing off 😂. I have been accumulating doggie hiking gear with the aspirations of camping with my Labradoodle. My fear is that she will bust through the tent screen in pursuit of a night creature 😕. I love the ruff gear leash that expands and you can clip around a hip belt. I'll have to shop some at Backcountry for my next piece of doggy gear. Thank you Taylor for that inspiring hike 💖

Hahah aw you made that sound so sweet. She was just trying to help me! Funny story.. when she woke up, she tried to jump out the door of the tent but didn't realize it was a screen and she bounced backwards. It was so cute to watch, she was okay but so confused! Glad you enjoyed the video!

Thanks! I'm thinking about some ski videos. I just got a new ski set-up to hopefully allow me to do some skinning up the ski resorts this season
