Ivy Munro Totally agree. I'm not a huge makeup women, for me less is more. I don't wear foundation most of the year. I like a natural looking one in the winter. Anyway, I've watched a few other makeup vlogs and they don't apply to regular people. Here, she has real people skin, shows the makeup in different lighting and after hours of wear.

I love that you take the camera in lights that lets us see exactly what your talking about , I hate the lights that makes people look perfect. How does that help anyone of us out here. I have unsubscribed to a couple of ladies for that reason . I love how real you are and how it feels like your actually trying to help people figure out what works . In my opinion you are the best one on here , so thankful for you guidance. 💕

I have dry to combination skin and love it. I find the Beauty Blender the best method for applying it. I also think for $38 it should come with refills (or the ability to refill) AND better options for WOC as tan and dark aren't representative of every person with deeper skin tones. Your review was great and sorry it didn't work out so well for you. I think it is definitely better for drier complexions.

Suze Blood The Anti Guru I'm very confused. Lol. It clung to her dry patches like crazy!! How is it better for dryer skin? Not trying to be rude at all. I just have extremely dry/textured skin, so I'm curious.
@OrlyyaRly72
@OrlyyaRly72 8 жыл бұрын
I don't think you're being rude; totally get you! I'm not sure the best way to work with it; other people have had problems as well (Hot n Flashy reviewed it recently on her channel.) You definitely have to "activate" the formula first and it takes a few swipes for opacity. Hmm... I use an exfoliating cleanser and a retinol at night so my skin is relatively smooth (not always as I have rosacea and the bumps at times.) I also use a moisturizer and primer first off, though you would think with everything it has in it you wouldn't need all of that. I love it, but I'm definitely in the minority as far as I've seen based on YT videos. If you're intrigued I'd definitely try it on at Ulta and wear it for the day to see if it works?? That's what I did as it's rather $$ if it didn't work out so well.

I love how you zoom in to really view the foundation & how its sits on the skin. Showing true coverage. So many youtubers are stuck in trying to seems flawless & the reviews aren't 100% accurate bc the lights show everything so different & pretty much everything they try looks perfect and blurred. Just doesn't seem fair to the viewers who are trusting their reviews. Anyways, love that you are super honest, use different types of lighting, & zoom in close. You are the best!!! Much love to your honesty. You are beautiful inside & out!

This is a foundation you either love or hate. I don't really have any acne or texture but I can see how it might not stick to acne spots. Try the celebration illumination as a setting powder. It looks awesome on top. I can see how someone would not like it with a lot of acne.

Smaashbox has silica in it and with some foundations it makes it harder to blend out or makes it peel off. I have had a lot of issues with it, I am combination skin with Rosacea and cystic acne. Too Faced has a great primer in Primed and Poreless, that is paraben free and cruelty free.

I tried this foundation for the 1st time today too and i have some large pores and dry patches...i used the Becca 1st light primer and tried the brush but then went in with a beauty blender and it applied AHMAZING....almost 9 hours later still going strong and not into my fine lines and not broken up at all. set under eyes with cover fx translucent powder and then the bare skin light to medium finishing pressed powder. Try again with a beauty blender and you may love the result! Love your videos xo

I'm really surprised it accentuated your dry spots because I have major dry spots and it actually worked really well to cover mine! You could see them, but not as bad some other ones did. As a cosmetic chemist and former molecular biologist, can I please open a dialogue with all the dermatology attendings at teaching hospitals, the industry formulators and the media about about fatty acid esters and acne prone skin? Is anyone ever going to make cosmetic chemistry training an important part of a derm. residency program? When I did my post-grad cosmetic chemistry training, we had several dermatologists in our class, but they had to seek it out, it's expensive and it's not available in most cities. Most physicians (even my husband) din't even know existed. What if these 3 industries all came together and eventually, consumers could walk into Sephora and be advised PRIOR to breaking out any worse than they normally do, which products best suit consumers who know they are acne-prone? Maybe there would be fewer products returned? Maybe dermatologists, endocrinologists, OB/GYNs would have better patient outcomes when treating health conditions that can cause treatment-resistant acne? Is it just me, or is there a reason these industries haven't thought to unite yet? It might involve a little bit quantum physics, but it's not exactly rocket science. Any other cosmetic chemists, dermatologists or other physicians out there who are as obsessed with foundation as I am want to collaborate ? I don't know why I can't stop watching these makeup videos. Need a support group of other scientists and clinicians with same interest. Call me.

Sophy Merszei honestly that would be wonderful to have someone match the chemicals to your skin type so you don't have to suffer and break out from chemicals in makeup known to cause inflammation But then again I think each person will still have different reactions to a chemical even if they both have acne prone skin.

Sophy Merszei As a nurse who works in the cosmetic industry I appreciate your comment. I sometimes suspect that if we were to figure out what causes acne or treat it properly, many companies would loose out on millions of dollars people spend on either trying to cure it themselves or cover it up. idk, I am a conspiracist, great thoughts tho!!

That would be really nice. I have hormonal acne all around my cheeks and chin, and had been prescribed a topical antibiotic and a retinoid to help with the acne. I was also using a non-comedogenic (higher-end) foundation because of my self-consciousness. However, my skin wasn't improving. As soon as I stopped using the foundation, with the prescriptions my acne cleared up almost immediately. So even products that I thought were safe were keeping my skin from being clear...

The website ewg.org lists all kinds of chemicals that they've found are harmful to people and the environment, and they have a whole section on cosmetics and skincare. I recently tried using products that scored the best on their lists, and it's really helped my skin.
@adav19
@adav19 8 жыл бұрын
Sophy Merszei I think just personal research could help with this Unfortunately everyone's skin is different, and even if fatty alcohols make me break out (they do), they still may not break someone else out who has acne prone skin. I think the easiest solution to this issue is just personal research. Finding out what each ingredient is and why it's needed in your cosmetics, and then after awhile of doing that, you start the retain that information and it makes it easier to buy products better suited to your skin type. I know my skin does not like denatured alcohol (well most people's don't), coconut oil, any kind of nut oil, fatty alcohols, and dimethicone (which dries me out). In order to learn this, I had to use trial and error. You are very educated, and I am just a cosmetologist (hair, skin, nails). Maybe you could start a blog about it! What a great resource you could be to people who want to know what it in their products and why, and what kind of skin type it should work best on, and who should avoid it at all costs.

I have to say that I LOVE the Confidence in a Compact! I recently purchased the trial kit for the IT Cosmetics and was not happy with it at all. My husband bought me the Confidence in a Compact for our recent family vacation trying to minimize my makeup packing (ha! Lol!) The awesome part was I had just been hit with a vicious case of food poisoning right before we left and I don't know about you but when I get sick I break all the blood vessel in my face. The Confidence in a Compact covered all the broken blood vessels in my face! It made my skin look and feel amazing! And the SPF 50 really works! We were in Florida and I was sunburnt everywhere except my face!! Definitely don't forget to swirl in the product because it activates the serum in it. Just had to share my story! Will definitely be repurchasing the Confidence in a Compact but not the regular IT Cosmetics foundation or concealer because they didn't cover anything for me.

I am wondering if the it cosmetics brush would work better if you'd more like pounced it into the skin? It sort of looked like you were dragging the brush which definitely can make thicker foundations harder to blend out.

thataylaa I have Lupus wonky dry skin and you know the Lupus butterfly. This has done GREAT on me. I'm wondering if you got a bad one or something because you're having totally opposite results than I did. Really, I was going to message you and tell you to try this lol! I'm really thinking yours was sitting in the cold or something before you got it, because mine was nothing like that and blended really well. Maybe take this one back and try another. This just sucks because the second I put mine on I thought about you!! Blah😢 love you... go take this one back and get a replacement lol!

I'm a new baerrito (I love burritos and mexican food!) so I thought I'd say hi to Taylor and the baerrito fam! I'm from the UK so I always watch Foundation Fridays on Saturday morning with my breakfast ☺️ I have a question too that somebody might be able to help with - I watched Taylor's huge face mask video and I have the Indian Healing Clay mask too, I was wondering what people mix this mask with when they put it on? So far I've just been using water but the consistency isn't great so I would love to know if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks guys! 💜

Taylor, I think the review is tricky with this and I'll tell you why. A serum foundation is highly dependent on the ability of being absorbed into the skin. The Jouer primer you typically use, is not silicone based but the Smashbox is pretty much just silicone. When a silicone based primer is used, it literally blocks the serum from being absorbed and causes it to be unable to cling onto much of anything. It is like the ultimate cock block. So, it doesn't take much for it to flake off or just slide off. That is why it looks flaky, dry, cakey...... like crap. PLEASE! I would love to see this with a primer that doesn't block absorption like the Elf 3 in 1 or the Jouer. Silicone based primers are just terrible to use for reviews for this reason. I think you'll find that it wears entirely different with the right primer. PLEASE! In fact, with my clients, I no longer use ANY silicone based primers at all for this reason. It is like waterproofing something and then thinking the stain product doesn't work because it didn't sink into the leather. I hope that makes sense. This concept is used with hair dye. You put vaseline on your skin to keep the dye from being absorbed into your skin.

kudos to you for willing to try out these foundations and reporting back to us here on KZbin. God Bless you because this helped me realize that the compact is good for med coverage and I probably shouldn't wear it with a primer underneath. probably without a primer it will sit and melt into the skin better

Re: ridiculously long product names. Cosmetic companies don't have to validate claims made in the name of the product, but they do have to validate claims made on the label. I am typically skeptical of products with long product names, IT being the exception, I've liked everything I've tried from that brand.

Ally Andria I don't see how it's risque at all. Guess I'm just confused. A casting couch is a couch that actors and actresses sit on before an audition. What's risque about that?

Jerilynn86 I've never heard of it as for actresses and actors. More so a porn industry term. It's in half the raunchy pop up's you get. It's pretty derogatory to women in my opinion.

38 bucks and it didn't even work, that really stinks, and I was also pretty stoked about the compact style. Ps. I think for the last check in the less professional lighting is better, sometimes with the studio lights the foundation still looks good even if you said it didn't look good in real life or different lighting. ps. #snapfam
