Thanks for the review. Im 45 and I've had very good luck with this foundation. I have dry/combo skin and I used the smashbox hydrating primer with a bit of porefessional on the pores. I used no powder except under the eyes and set it with a good setting spray. It stayed all day and still looked good on me. As everyone keeps saying, what works for one might not for another. Great review.

Hi Angie. I just want to thank you for all the time and hard work you put into your channel. 50 is right around the corner for me and I have to admit the aging process gets me really down sometimes. Your videos are so inspiring and they remind me that we can look beautiful at any age, it just might take a little more work lol. You and I have identical skin types so your Foundation Fridays are my favorite (I've been looking for the holy grail foundation for almost 30 years) but I really appreciate the variety of topics you cover. Thanks for making KZbin a better place :)

Thank you for an honest video on this foundation. Sam Schuerman did a video on it and filtered out all her imperfections, she claimed that this foundation gave her perfect coverage. I am grateful that You Tube has honest people like you giving reviews.
@aidancash18 жыл бұрын
Andrea Martin She didn't claim any of that. There wasn't even a voice over for that quick video I don't believe.
@letsgobrandon9118 жыл бұрын
Correct she didnt claim any of what I stated, but everything in her video was filtered to make her skin look perfect. All of her spots and wrinkles were blurred out, Sam said the foundation made her skin look perfect. Honesty goes a long way on You Tube and people like Angie are worth watching and Sam on the other hand will do anything to make a dollar.
@letsgobrandon9118 жыл бұрын
Like I said she didnt claim any of that. The video speaks for itself. No one with acne scarred skin can turn their skin into perfection after using this foundation. Samantha sure made her video look that way. Go watch her vlog channel and then watch the IT cosmetics foundation video again. The comparison is astounding, everything is filtered in the IT cosmetics video.

I really wanted to finally hear something good about this foundation. It has all those wonderful skin care ingredients and a high SPF. I use their CC cream and love it but was wanting to add something new to my routine that wasn't another eyeshadow palette. I've seen one good review about this and I don't have the utmost confidence in the reviewer. Thank you Angie for your honesty, as usual. At first I agreed with Angie that it was not always easy to apply and it felt sticky.....but today I wore it over IT's Confidence in A Cream Moisturizer and then I used the sponge applicator that was included with the foundation. I simply tapped it on and blended in, tapped and blended, tapped and blended. It looked beautiful on ! I was surprised. At first when I tried it, I didn't like it, thought it felt sticky and didn't even out the skin tone, but that was only when I used the brush that came with the kit which I purchased from QVC. I find it is just as much of a full coverage as the CC Cream if you add more, but then it could look too over done. I used the med-tan and I like that they offer in between colors with this foundation that match the skin tone better. I found that the secret is to moisturize the skin first, let moisturizer dry, then apply foundation. Wala ! I'm done and out the door ! I love IT Cosmetics, been buying alot of their products lately to try them out.

I'm 51. I went to Ulta to try it out. It is not full coverage. I use the IT illumination foundation and find that to be full coverage but I hit pan quickly. This IT serum is not worth almost $40. Thank you Angie for this fantastic review. You do the most informative reviews and I really value them.

Hi Nicole, what I use is the IT Celebration Illumination foundation in a compact. I also love the Lumi liquid foundation that has a pump. I have dry skin. I feel that it's important to have a good skincare routine that is moisturizing. I always use a makeup setting spray too after my makeup is done. I personally use the NYX dewy setting spray. I can't speak for others. I am all about the dewy life. Face serums are great for dry skin and under eye serums. I use face masks during the week too. 😊

Nicole Soto I would recommend finding a Chanel counter and asking for a sample of Vitalumiere (the original, not aqua). Or sephora for a sample of the newest Shisedo glow foundation. Dior skin nude glow is also great, but not as full coverage.

I also bought and tried the brush with this foundation and was disappointed. but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product applied with a dampened Beauty blender. It is the only way I will apply this from now on and I am in love with this product! I have large pores and melasma, but with the pore fessional primer underneath and a full face light dusting of the bye, bye pores powder to set it I can love my skin again.

I'm 52 and have dry to normal skin. I bought this foundation with the brush and I love it. I do apply it with the brush then go in with my beauty blender to remove any streaks. Yes it's very thick but once warmed up by your skin it does apply and move around easily. I guess it depends on your skin type as to how it applies and wears because on me it stays put all day. Now I do set all my foundations with a powder. I love it and will repurchase once I run out. Enjoyed your review ❤

It's really interesting to see how others are using/loving/not loving this foundation. For me, using damp beauty blender to apply, waiting a few minutes before second spot-check application, and baking the heck (bye bye pores) out of nearly my whole face makes a huge difference. Primer used was Elf pore minimizing, and no setting spray used. I do live in a dry climate - this may be one reason no oiliness or craziness. I tried applying with brushes of various types, but found I had similar issues with the product not taking in certain strange random areas. It keeps my skin very nourished (even in the high desert) all day, and when I remove it, my skin does not have that horrid dried out feeling. If I were living back in Florida, I suspect this foundation would behave differently. Great video, awesome comments. Subscribed!

Angie, This was an excellent review! I had purchased it on the special from QVC & I could not stand it either. At first I just thought I got the wrong shade - actually I thought the Medium was darker than in their other formulations. But like you - kept trying to make it work. My skin is dry now, as I'm aging AND live in the dessert! So I truly thought I would luv this one. But EVERY time I used it I just could not stand how it looked! So glad I was not the only "odd man out" on this one. Thx for a great review!

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one who felt this way about this product. I tried to make it work so many ways, but there was always a problem. The best way to apply imo, is with a brush on a bare face, then powdered. It's just too much bother for me, I often end up shiny at the end of the day. This compact was boxed back up and waiting for my errand day (today) to return to Ulta.

Angie, I am older then you with much dryer skin (almost 65) I can only use any of the IT foundations during the winter (am in NYC). I purchased this compact from QVC and the brush came with it. I use the CeraVe AM, no primer. I had problems getting the product on to the brush that came with it. Once I finally had it on my skin it was thick, uneven, and shiny. I tried blending it out with the puff that came with it. That started to take it off. I was already late so I tried to fix it by adding more. It refused to dry. Had to wash my face and start all over with another product. Totally exasperating experience.

Thanks Angie, spot on review! Completely agree with all your comments, I was so disappointed that I ended up returning it. I was completely underwhelmed with this product especially after reading all the hype from It cosmetics. The sales person at Ulta tried to persuade me to keep it for a while and to come back when they had a rep from It cosmetics visit. I returned it but kept the brush, at almost $100 for 2 products it was a let down and I'm certainly not going to spend another $50 on products to make this work for me. As far as coverage I think the CC cream does a much better job.

I almost didn’t try this because of seeing how difficult it was to apply. I went straight for the beauty blender and it worked well. Don’t use a brush or the sponge it comes with. Wow. To each her own I guess. I’ve been using Confidence in a Compact for awhile now (on my 5th compact). It’s pretty much my HG foundation. The trick is learning how to apply it. I paint it on and then buff, buff, buff and buff some more with a Sephora airbrush foundation brush. If I’ve got a long day, I will do a bit of baking, but not often. As far as coverage, I don’t really need much, but I find the coverage excellent. And I love the 50 SPF. In fact, hardly a day goes by that someone doesn’t compliment me on my complexion.

Hi Angie, the way I see it the advantage of cushions is that they contain high physical sunscreen and are very portable. Because most are liquid light coverage they can be applied throughout the day to touch up your makeup while adding sunscreen. Problem is real cushions are Korean and Korean people looooove glowy faces so finding one that won't go all shiny is hard not to mention the colour range sucks. Can you please do a series where you try to find a good cushion to apply on the go?

If the foundation already has spf 50 why do you use additional sunscreen? Could that possible be the reason for the difficulty you had with it?
@AngieHotandFlashy8 жыл бұрын
I use sunscreen every day because UV rays are the #1 cause of skin aging and skin cancer, plus I use Retin-A and people using retinoids need extra sun protection. I've tested the sunscreens I use with multiple foundations to be sure they don't affect the foundations I'm trying but I do try foundations with multiple sunscreens just to be sure. Foundations with sunscreen shouldn't be used as sunscreen because no one uses enough foundation to get the spf number on the label. You would have to use 1/4 teaspoon of this foundation to get spf 50 protection. There are about 4 teaspoons of foundation in the product so using it at 1/4 t a day, you'd use up the entire compact in 16 days. With normal application you'd be reducing the spf protection from 50 to about 7.
@vanessalane78 жыл бұрын
Paula Michelle even if a makeup product has spf, you can't apply enough of the product to get enough of the spf to protect your skin, so it's best to apply a sunscreen underneath anyway! 😊

+susan moore Even staying home, I still recommend wearing sunscreen because UVA rays come right through glass and clouds, and those little buggers bounce off shiny surfaces so they hit you multiple times. UVAs are the rays that cause most of skin's aging and also cancers. Patty Mulcahy Jones It isn't a hard foundation to use. It's actually very easy. Sometimes you just have to try it because foundation is very personal. A little bye bye pores with this and my face looks flawless.

I can't thank you enough for doing close ups. I haven't found anyone else yet that does them like you.

I always look forward to your videos! ❤️️ I just spent $7 on revlon colorstay whipped foundation and I'm in love. I wonder if you've tried it because it's a lot like your hg Chanel. But for me, even better. Thank you for your videos! They're the best!

Because I like the 'confidence in a cream' for night time, I tried this and I like it for a quick & easy day look (sheer to medium- but not full). I don't like the price, the compact style or the sponge haha, but as for the formula (used with a RT buffing brush and set with ELF or LM powder) I like it. It also plays well with my concealer(s) which is nice. I use it with a (herbal) primer and found it looked better about an hour after applied. I have very dry mature skin and use Algenist setting spray too. Thanks for the review!!

Thank you Angie! Glad to know I wasn't the only one who had these same problems with it!

Don't know if you have ever tried Hourglass Mineral Veil primer but it is my holy grail primer...more expensive but well worth it!...I really like It cosmetics but I also have very dry skin and I think that makes a difference.....I haven't tried the compact though..only the Bye Bye pores foundation and the CC cream foundation....and if you ever are looking for a drugstore compact foundation Cover Girl Aqua Smooth does a great job as well..but again maybe more suited for dry skin....thanks Angie..love your testing and videos!

annie r. Thanks for the drugstore recommendation for dry skin! I'm also considering the Neutrogena Hydroboost.

+HotandFlashy I just purchased this foundation this past weekend. I did pass on the $48 brush but I had another foundation brush at home. I agree that it's not quite full coverage. I threw the puff away after about 15 seconds of working at it and found the brush much better for coverage. I do not have oily skin and found it held up well through the day. Just my 2 cents! Thanks Angie!

Ooh kitty is a polydactyl! I had one when I lived in New Hampshire. Common on east coast but not in the south. Love the 4wd!

Thanks for such a thorough review Angie. Based on your experience I won't be buying this IT product. I do like the CC Veil and the CC Cream in the tube. Great video as always. ~ Catharine

I also bought. This ad I love the IT CC I never put anything under the foundation and it works great for me! Just shows how all our types are different!

I love this compact. I was looking for a sheer coverage with lots pf sunscreen. The It CC cream is way too thick for me and I found this one to be perfect. I don't slide it on, I just tap and blend. For me personally, it blends in well and does not gather or slide off, is not shiny at all. So basically skins are different. What works for some will not work for others. :)

Timely review as I just checked QVC for it earlier today. A bit hesitant now. (I dislike shiny!!!) Thank you, Angie.

I just got this in the mail yesterday and just so happened to watch your review and started to quickly regret my purchase. Today with a fresh face I gave this foundation a shot... and you were pretty spot on with your review. I actually got so frustrated I had to wash my face and start over with another foundation. There was no way I was walking out of the house with foundation that was splotchy, made some areas of my face look dry and unfortunately I felt it actually made me look older. No confidence in this compact what so ever! This foundation is going back for sure! Some things from IT cosmetics I just love but boy when it's a fail it's a huge FAIL for me.

I'm so shocked by how this looks on you. I recently found this foundation at TJMAXX and I'm blown away at how good it looks under my eyes and on larger pores. I've never experienced anything so smoothing. And I am seriously surprised how much my sensitive skin likes this wax based product. Of course. Its 50° here right now. I guess the real test is yet to come (in July/August)

Oh poo! Had high hopes for this one. I was impressed you knew which weapon to grab for the under and over application to get the best results. I think in this review I got more out of the additional products in learning how they work and seeing them work, than I did on the actual hot seat product! On a personal note, my heart did a pitter patter when I saw the appearance of the little tail flash on your desk. Was that Kit--? I know it was a cat tail! Wouldn't take my eyes off the screen, and was I rewarded for it! Simply mesmerized by the premier of you new assistant. (this was my first time to see her/him). You know I am sure all cats are born to be performers. But this one, is such a little beauty and quite a natural at it. Stood right there, poised and looked right at us! So happy for you Angie. Really missed this endearing element to your work. My heart is full again, I trust yours is too! : )

B. Walker Just because it didn't work for her doesn't mean you won't like it. I had none of these issues with it.

Glad it worked for you Christine! I love the cute package, bet you do too. I tend to gravitate towards a cream base-used years ago and that is why I was focused on this one. More spackle like I guess. ; ) I have followed H&F so long that I have learned we are pretty close in skin type etc. So I use her fine test points to decide if I want to take the plunge. I always get a sample size first, before I buy. With this I would have to scoop some out of the display and it wouldn't be sanitary...so there are other factors to my passing on it. Do you have a square to spare (a scoop I mean)? ; ) PS. Thanks for the encouragement-it will be helpful to others.

I've been hoping you'd demo this one, thank you!! I tested this in store on the back of my hand, to me it felt kinda dry and chalky and looked blotchy on the large pretty large area that I rubbed it on. Did not feel like a Serum whatsoever to me. I was hoping it be almost more like a cushion foundation even though I knew it was a solid. I just don't want to have to pile product on my face to get a foundation to lay nicely on my skin. I think this'll be a pass for me like I originally thought. I love their CC, I just don't think I'd love this.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was disappointed in this product. I kept trying to like it and it was expensive to boot. The brush that came with it was as expensive as the foundation so I kept it because of the brush. Since I own it I will keep trying to make something work for my skin!
