Those cars (with more modest engines, ofc) were this what motorised Poland over 40 years ago. I remember a lot of those, on our streets even 15 years ago.

Funny how I've never seen anyone in Poland do it. However, I have seen a Fiat 126 with off-road suspension, and probably some other 126-like bits on the inside.

Well, it's not like we have Chevy's small blocks everywhere. I believe that the problem is that V8's are quite expensive here. Probably the cheapest comes from old BMW 5 and 7 which a few times the cost of a Fiat 126. However lot's of folks drop some huge V8 and V12 engines in 3 series BMW to build a drift missile.

darek4488 - well, I believe that if anyone saw this vid, they'd reconsider. Sure, if you can find a 126 that hasn't rusted to shit yet, you'll get it for bubkes, so the only serious expense is a V8 engine and fitting it. And don't forget slapping a St. Chris on the dash and praying that the whole contraption doesn't fall apart at 120... :D

***** Despite Maluch a.k.a. Fiat 126p being a deathtrap, it makes more sense to go the route most people do. Which is fitting a powerful motorcycle engine, because you don't want a huge 200kg crushing you and your can from behind. Moreover, you would still have too much power to keep the car somewhat straight if you want and you can corner too. P.S. St. Chris is a no1 safety feature. I have it for 5 years and still I haven't crashed despite being close too many times to count :)

darek4488 - hahahaha, one tight turn too many and that 200 kg engine is going to get flung out sideways with disastrous results, just for someone else. Although the thought of it plowing through the shoebox that is the passenger compartment and out the front is terrifying as well. And weighing down the front is out of the question, I guess.

***** I have been a passenger in a Fiat Cinquecento with a turbocharged 1.2 Punto engine pushing about 1.5 bar (22 psi) of boost and it is both terrifying and exciting. It was the moment when I realized that life without a turbo is grim and sad. Now I am trying to save some money.

The Orange one has a V8 in the front, the driver sits very far back, pretty much in the rear window. I’ll do a walkaround on one when I next see them at the track. The Blue one has the engine in the back.

Its often done with Hatchbacks as it alows easy access to the rear wheels, and can fit a big engine and transmission.
