For those who don't know, in Nigeria there was a false prophet before TB Joshua who called himself Jesu Oyingbo. Oyingbo is a place in Lagos, Nigeria where he started his ministry. He too also acquired the name Emmanuel. The other one Rev. Okotie mentioned was based in Calabar told his congregation that he was the Holy Spirit. They are both dead now.

As far as literal translation is concerned, yes Joshua is Jesus. In Hebrew 4:8 Jesus was used when talking about Joshua. Joshua came before Jesus as a type of Jesus. So this doesn't mean that the old testament Joshua was a false prophet.

I usually heard TB Joshua mention the word Jesus Christ referring to it as his God, and never heard of him equalling himself to Jesus Christ. I actually observed him say Jesus Christ is the healer and not himself as TB Joshua.
