@@Snowbird_89 what did BF5 do worse in terms of atmosphere? If anything, BF1 is just as unfaithful to its setting. When people claim BF1 actually captures what ww1 was all about, it truly makes me raise an eyebrow. It's an insanely inaccurate, inauthentic, ridiculous, fantastical portrayal of ww1.

@@RPMguitar92 I think the portrail of ww1 in bf1 is received the way it is due to it being a little unexplored compared to ww2. The thing is, Verdun captures ww1 better because it retains a realistic atmosphere and doesn't feature SMG's, sentry kits and flame thrower kits like bf1 does. The other reason I think bf1 was well received, was because of its unique setting that not many games, even now, feature. Plus, I think the developers intended for bf1 to be unrealistic as they knew players didn't want to sit in a trench for 45 minutes, nor charge the enemy only to be mowed down by an lmg... that wouldn't be very fun. BFV's portrail of ww2 is silly because of the very things it gets wrong. The uniforms and vehicle camos that would get a soldier court marshalled or punished are just one of the many things that make bfv worse than bf1 gameplay wise. Then again, bfv features an awful lot of balancing issues and map design that just doesn't feel that varied in comparison to bf1. I mean at one point the game was Britain Vs Germany for the first year of the game. If they featured France Vs Germany, Italy Vs Britain or Russia Vs Germany or Japan (Manchuria campaign 1945), the game wouldn't of felt stale a year after release. This is my personal outlook though.

It's a blatant bias toward ww2 and how it's portrayed, and a complete lack of knowledge and care about ww1 and how it's portrayed. Which, ultimately, is SUPER unfair to the devs and their game - because at the end of the day, both games are EGREGIOUSLY wacky, fantastical, and ridiculous portrayals of their settings that don't even remotely approach the realities, accuracy, or authenticity of the era that they portray - but one of the game's because the best selling game in the history of the franchise because it was ww1 and nobody gave a fuck, and the other was lampooned among the community because people baselessly expected DICE to do a 180 in terms of how they've always designed BF games and make a more grounded, accurate, and authentic ww2 game solely because it was set during ww2 and people subjectively care more about it. When down to brass tacks, BF5 is nothing but another BF game set during ww2, and people complained about it because it wasn't Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers: The Video Game like they wanted it to be. But, as I said - my initial comment wasn't about that. It was about people saying shit like "Man, BF1 was such a fantastic portrayal of ww1" while also saying "How could they go from BF1 and how they portrayed ww1 to BF5 portraying ww2 so badly" - when, in reality, both games are equally as off the fucking wall as one another and those people merely just don't give a shit that BF1 is ridiculously inaccurate. They don't really know anything in-depth about ww1 at all, so to them it could be the most inauthentic portrayal of ww1 to ever exist and they'll say it was done great just because they couldn't care about it like they do about ww2. Because BF1 goes WELL BEYOND just having automatic weapons and sentry soldiers. Let's start with the obvious, like things BF5 does and would catch shit for from the community: For starters, BF1 *literally had a fucking star wars melee weapon*. The Totokia melee weapon is a melee weapon from Star Wars used by the sand people of Tatooine, and it was added in celebration of the launch of Star Wars Battlefront 2 I watched fucking Boba Fett tear people up with one in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. On top of that, BF1 has multiple maps either based on battles that didn't happen, are in completely vague locations, or completely altered real engagements to make them fit the battlefield formula. For one, one of the most popular maps in the game, Amiens, is based on a location where fighting never happened. The Germans were halted from advancing into the city of Amiens by the British and Aussies in the Battle of Villers Brettanaux. They added that location solely to have an urban environment that supports a more modern warfare style of gunfighting. Then there's Fao Fortress, a battle that in reality had the British bombing the shit out of the Ottomans into a forced surrender and retreat with no British lives lost and no actual land battle - but in BF1 its an all out combined arms land battle with tanks and planes fighting over swamp land where the Fortress is mostly fucking ignored. Then there's shit BF5 caught flack for even though it was voluntary and entirely customizable - having black guys in factions they don't belong on. In BF1, both the British and Germans had crazy inauthentic black characters as 1/4th of their team and were uncustomizable. In the case of the British team, it was the second most used class in the game and the ONLY class with access to historically accurate weaponry - Scout. We're half of any given British team you were on using Recon? Too bad, they're all black guys and nobody can change it like they could in BF5, where Germans didn't even have the option of being black. And I understand that to an incredibly small extent, the Russians did have a battalion of female soldiers that fought on the front lines - but on EVERY Russian map, the Scout class was forced to be female, making a large portion of any given Russian team female in every battle that they fight in. Then there's something BF1 did intrensically worse than BF5 and every other BF game - it is literally the only title in the entire franchise with vehicles that aren't faction locked, allowing any faction to use any vehicle at any given time. You'd have the British driving around in an insanely rare and barely used German A7V tank that was painted with the French flag, or the French driving around in a British Landship that was painted black and had gold plated trimming. Or maybe even both the Ottoman and British teams having a Red Baron Fokker plane in the air at the same time in the same battle. It may have been done for reasons that stem from there not being an abundance of vehicles during ww1, but it's still undeniably and blatantly unrealistic and inauthentic to a great degree, and it's something BF5 did much better. Then there's skins. Weapon and Vehicle skins are clad in ivory, gold, engravings all over the place, painted with random colors, covered in leather, etc. There are a whopping maybe 10 or so skins for weapons and vehicles I'd call legitimately authentic to the era and realities of ww1 and it's weapons/vehicles/technology, and they're basic bitch low rarity skins. Then player models are absolutley DECKED OUT in nonsensical tacticool gear that no standard issue soldier in ww1 ever used. Take the American Support soldier for instance - the dude has pieces of body armor all over him, including a prototype knight style helmet that never even reached production before the end of the war and was never used in combat, he's draped with Shotgun bandoliers regardless of what weapon he's using, and he can lug around some MGs that it took teams of 4 or 5 men to carry, mount, and operate effectively. The Sentry kits are literal soldiers decked out from head to toe in steel plated lobster armor suits running around with crazy unrealistic weapons like they're fucking 1917 Rambo. And that's ALL without mentioning the crazy shit that didn't even exist during ww1 - like the Hellriegel, SMG 08/18, the Limpet Mine thay didn't exist until tne 1930s, the Thompson Annihilator, and multiple post ww1 weapons that were added in an event prior to the launch of BF5. Lmao they had broken bottles and grappling hooks as melee weapons, Ffs. I mean, I can keep going - but I'm sure that gets the gist across. In closing, it just seems incredibly naive and ignorant to love one game for its portrayal of its setting and hate another for it when the entire basis of the love/hate is how faithfully/accurately/authentically the setting was portrayed in comparison to the completely subjective and wildly varying knowledge levels and expectations of completely random individuals. The games are either accurate or they're not, they're either authentic or they're not. Anything inbetween is merely subjective picking-and-choosing based entirely on one's own feelings and whim - which DICE has legitimately never designed a game around.

There was some weird thing going in BF1. You could get 70+ normal battlepacks in a day not even playing the game and easily grind even more through playing. I asked guys on the server is it just only me and it turned out that everybody had the same "glitch". It is fxed now, but i gained thousands of scraps and can basically buy every legendary skin there is in this game. I can't believe some idiots reported it to the EA support.

I like this mode, however (in the european servers) we only find 2 servers, full of people using only hellriegel, mg 0818 and fedorov.
