I drew a bunch of panels (somewhat) to make human versions of some of the cars from this one section of the movie.
What if the Worthless cars were humans and being treated the same way?
characters are copyright of disney along with the music.
Designs for the human characters i made please don't steal
Time taken: 4 hours to drawl all the panels out then sync with music
Note: i couldn't design looks for the last two cars, so sorry if they weren't included in this D: i tried my hardest and i was running out of marker ink for the silhouettes

Gods I was just ignorant as a kid when I listened to this song, but as an adult, Jesus, this song is DARK. Worst part at the end is that car talking about driving the Texan to a wedding to which the guy crashes and is IMMEDIATELY followed by a car saying he took a man to a graveyard. The Texas Longhorn car didn't crash. The groom-to-be just got cold feet before the nuptials OR more accurately, he forgot why he was bothering to get married to begin with & left to go back home: "He kept forgetting his loneliness. [...] and we turned." Then, we meet the hearse, whose verse goes, "I took a man to a graveyard. I beg your pardon, it's quite hard enough just living with the stuff I have learned."

Whenever I talk to people, Online or IRL, I usually site Brave Little Toaster as my favorite Disney film. They don't usually take 'I watched it alot as a kid', 'its got a great soundtrack', or 'I prefer like the design style'. So then I end up making arguments like 'were the film to have an animal or human cast, it would be the darkest film in history'. Thank you so much for this video. I agree with other commenters, you should sit down and make a full animation out of this. Gore optional.

It's not a disney film all disney did was distribute it. Credit the hard workers that actually made the film, Hyperion.
@inversenexarus9152
@inversenexarus9152 9 жыл бұрын
Leimiful The way the industry is set up is to have a flagship distributor, who manages a series of smaller content suppliers; such as Marvel, Buena Vista, Hyperion, Pixar, ect. I understand what you are saying. But we are both right, Hyperion did the animation, Disney brought it to the public. Its also just easier to say, rather than stumble around trying to remember which branch of the Disney tree specifically made the film.
@Leimiful
@Leimiful 9 жыл бұрын
Cody Fritz Hyperion wasn't part of Disney in any way shape or form so your entire argument is 100% invalid. The guy who created Hyperion had previously worked for Disney as their head of tv production or something like that which is why Disney distributed their films. It was a favor to this guy. To say Hyperion was a branch of Disney is laughable.
@inversenexarus9152
@inversenexarus9152 9 жыл бұрын
Leimiful You act like distribution is not an important part. Distribution can make or break a film. Were the situation more akin to Don Bluth, where he leaves Disney and gets distribution via Warner Brothers and Fox. Then I'd agree with you. But Hyperion got distribution through Disney, therefore Disney and Hyperion worked together, just not in animating the film.

Fun fact. TBLT was originally going to be a Disney film, and was the reason John Lasseter was fired. He took the film to Hyperion, and used some, if not all his capitol from the movie, to help fun PIXAR.

what if the whole movie was like this? Imagine Cutting Edge or B-Movie songs with humans. A chop shop of humans, human bits, and whatnot- people who want a second chance at life but in doing so mutilate themselves or worse- being forced to sit and sleep next to discarded bits and parts of people. Employees or performers- forced to always be top of the line, always at thier peak- but will quickly burn out and lose it- either being shoved away and forgotten. Or worse. I always said that if they were human this would be one of the deadliest songs in Disney history because it would be mass murder/suicide. I did not exaggerate. Sometimes I picture them in their human form as patients in a mental asylum lining up to get either ECT or lobotomies. In a way the crusher could be that. As humans, they are stuck somewhere that they don't want to be and watching themselves slowly die.
@solarice04
@solarice04 12 жыл бұрын
@Luigi1000 I would. On another note, this piece, especially with the humans, is so... haunting. From my perspective, these people, cars or otherwise, are being condemed to death either for actions outside of their control or because they're simply too infirm to function in a normal society. I wonder what would happen if the original were to be shown to characters in the universe of the Cars movies...

Maybe it's because I wasn't sure what I was getting into, but as they're strapped into the conveyer and they struggle with that look of fear on their faces... I don't know. It brought something that the cars didn't have, and they were sad enough. This is scary as hell. Well done.

Forgive me, but I came up with a couple of verses of my own. Figure out which "society rejects" these represent and come up with your own interpretations. I fall into this first one- I never saw a showroom. I was a factory reject, a small little defect took me off the line. Right rear brake light malfunction- Not a big deal, I could still turn a wheel, but they said that I'm not worth a dime! Worthless! Worthless! Worthless! And here's the second one- I was stolen for a robbery. Innocently waiting outside, robbers jumped right inside, took the money and ran. Nobody came to claim me. At auction no bids on me, wanted to get rid of me, sold me to a junkyard and BAM! You're worthless!! Figure out what kind of people they represent or make your own interpretation!o

I cant believe nobody responded to this in 3 yrs? Its good songwriting. Great job! As humans... Factory reject - handicapped orphan child like missing a limb/ on a crutch? Still capable of a childs purpose, which is being loved. (if we really wanna get dark, a high risk fetus aborted ?) Getaway car-- A getaway driver in prison? Maybe coerced into it via abduction, or the lead bank robbers gullible girlfriend or family member? They getaway and she gets 15 yrs.

well I can suggest the last two for you for future editing. These are someone else's insights I've seen around. Each of them feels worthless because they are all unable to move passed some hangup or some event and just live life on its terms. Car 1 worked itself to death. A workaholic that eventually had nothing left to live for. Viewed work as an end in and of itself. Car 2 expresses depression which just spiraled as a result of missed opportunities. Unable to start over. Just wallows in self pity. Car 3 is a drifter. Never set down any roots, never able to commit and ended up empty. Car 4 is haunted by his past failures. He was so close to greatness but didn't make it. Now he's unable to move passed it. Car 5 is a lot like Car 3. Scared to commit. This one was too scared to enter the next stage of their life, here marriage, and just "turned around", regressing to a simpler time, never moving forward. Car 6 is traumatized. Could the line "once drove a man to a graveyard" be evocative of a soldier killing an enemy? Now suffers PTSD and can't move on? Regardless, grief and trauma are clear and have paralysed them from moving forward. Car 7 refused to grow up. A life spent on sex and parties until the day they died. Finally Car 8 laments his old age. He was ok with it until his family abandoned him. This moment haunts him and prevents him from living his life in peace. I see this as evocative of some elderly relative being put into a nursing home.

You may or may not have seen the movie, but either way, the old pickup truck willingly drove onto the conveyor belt, as if to say he still had life in him but he wanted to let go and move on. Cowboy: Once served an Indian nation. I took the kids on the skids and the Hopi was happy till I heard him say... Choir: You're worthless.

Loved it! It really touches my heart! I love things that touch my heart and make me want to cry! That whole part of the movie does! You get a real feeling for the poor cars and what they're feeling and what kind of life they each had. Now you've put human faces in them.......I hope you come up with pictures for the rest of the song! PLEASE!! PLEASE!! PLEASE!! PLEASE!! PLEASE DO THE WHOLE SONG!! IT'S DRIVING ME BATS JUST TRYING TO IMAGINE JUST HOW THE OTHER POOR CARS/HUMANS ARE GONNA LOOK AND HOW SAD AND PITIFUL THEY'RE GONNA BE!! Just an idea, but maybe the Woody (the surfer car) could be a good-looking Cali chick in a bikini who's been in a terrible "wipeout" -The car hints at the idea that she was totaled in a bad accident on the way from Zuma-a well known California beach-to Yuma, Arizona. The Cali chick could be presumed to have once been great-looking, but now is all bruised, battered and bloodied from this "wipeout". Her once-beautiful long blond hair is now tangled and matted. She'd be wearing a pair of sunglasses that fall off her face and crack the screen as she's being picked up and carried by the claw. In the movie one of the Woody's headlights drops and smashes a windshield as the magnet hauls her away. She lands on the conveyor belt-or whatever that thing's called-upside-down, which to me is the most undignified way for a car to die, being that it's vulnerable and private underside is completely exposed. I'm thinking that the Cali girl could accidentally lose her bikini as the claw drops her, leaving her completely naked and vunerable and in an uncomfortable position as the chains are locked onto her. Of course we still want to keep it PG so we won't actually expose her tits or anything like that but she could be trying futilely to maintain some dignity by trying to cover herself with her hands and hair. The pickup could be an elderly Hopi Indian and can maybe be shown actually walking toward the conveyor belt and fastening his own chains. I've heard that in some tribal traditions this kind of ritual self sacrifice/suicide used to be commonly done for the survival of the tribe. Don't think the Hopis practiced it but to me it would still be spiritually relevant. Just my thoughts! Love the video! Been watching it over and over again recently!

It's possible the limo resembles a woman who was in a relationship with a Texan for a long time, but he never fully committed to her, even after taking him to a romantic wedding. He just kept letting his personal life back at home get the better of him. "Turned" could mean they broke up.

The limo represents wedding ushers, taking them to their big day, only to be followed with the Hearse representing death, someone who’s only carried corpses and learned about mortality, including his own where he’s ironically the one being taken to his final resting place, and of course the life and death cars are crushed together

In my opinion, the only way to craft an actual plot from this scenario would be something like this. The world is ruled by either a dystopian government or by alien conquerors who treat everyone as cheap labour and send them here when they can't work anymore. Also this might only be my mind, but when I see people crushed in a car crusher, I can't help but think it would have more of an effect if they were being fed to some monstrous creature, which I honestly think would work with the alien part.

Or it's just the hardness of life in general. This will happen to everyone. Sure, we may have surviving loved ones, but most of conventional society would deem us "worthless" once we've outgrown our usefulness & we'll all end up at the metaphorical junkyard awaiting the inevitable crusher of the Grim Reaper.
@RavenStarMedia
@RavenStarMedia Жыл бұрын
Another way it could work is if all the "humans" are actually androids/cyborgs (whether they know it or not) and they get crushed to be made into parts for other "humans" once they're deemed worthless. Still allows the crusher to work too.
@Nic_2751
@Nic_2751 Жыл бұрын
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh that would be an elderly retirement home, and the cutting edge appliances represent the youth, literally kicking the old out to make space for them, into the dump truck bus that takes them to the junkyard that is an elderly home where they await their deaths in their final days
@Nic_2751
@Nic_2751 Жыл бұрын
Well really the metaphor is paralleling society and elderly people, so it would be a retirement home, where a bunch of people in their final moments sing about their prime as the Grim Reaper lowers down to take each one as everyone else slowly watches their fellow housemates be taken.
