Probably the most inaccurate thing I've read all year to date. The PROBLEM was the landing technique on most of the crashes. There was ZERO flair or attempt to land on the mains and then letting the nose or the tail settle down naturally. Instead, pilots were dropping planes onto their landing gear, which wouldn't work on a real plane or a toy RC one for that matter. People love to blame the plane when it's almost always the pilot...
@randomnickify11 ай бұрын
@@myksanchez1222 said like another "flight simulator pilot" trying to teach others - if you flair RC plane it will land backwards on its tail and RC planes do not "settle" if there is any wind around.
@PieterErasmus-bm3ms10 ай бұрын
You can't build landing gear strong enough to absorb those landings . The gear did not stand a chance .Landing skills have to improve and some landing straps are very uneven .
@asommer5189 ай бұрын
@@randomnickify sure they settle just fine IF they are trimmed correctly, and in the case of higher winds flaps are a bad idea.I have 40+ years flying RC and scale pilots generally are the least skilled pilots flying the most difficult planes to fly. Do a search for Pattern Plane crash compilation and you wont find any. Why? Because Pattern planes are great flying planes flown by the best pilots.

This evening I was walking down the street and stopped in a little funky shop to look around. By looking at the outside you would NEVER even walk through the door. But I did. And guess what they have hanging from the ceiling?? Yeah...some old, BIG R/C aircraft. I have to go back for a closer look, but one I spotted had about a 3ft. wingspan and Coast Guard paint with pontoons...yeah...I'll be going back soon....BARN FIND!!! I think I saw at least 6 or 7 total hanging there....all older and big...I love it...when guys made real quality R/C's...
@asommer51810 ай бұрын
The scale pilots never disappoint, the backbone RC crash compilation video though in this case mostly just hard landings in poor flying conditions. Beautiful detailed scale aircraft flown by great craftsmen that just need to get out more often in bad conditions with their beater RC planes to keep the flying skills in top form. That and beef up your landing gear systems. Geez Oh and one other thing, don't use flaps on windy days.

Second RC Hurricane incident (u/c leg failure during landing) is uncannily similar to a Hawker Hurricane incident some years ago. Can't recall whether it was IWM Duxford or Biggleswade, but the a/c behaved exactly the same. (I think it was a BBMF a/c)

So many landing gear failures and pilot error. Jets seem to have universaly weak nose gear. What's up with that?
@tbobborap1 Жыл бұрын
jets are tended to be built as light as possible (as with most models) and the bare minimum wood and fixtures are used where possible and a familiar theme with modern composite sports jets now is how small and weak the u/c bearers are through out the model to save weight but cause more grief if the model is landed anything other than near perfect,
@florianN13211 ай бұрын
I disagree, most - if not all - of those Retract problems weren't caused by structural faliure, but poorly adjusted /maintained mechanics (pilot/builder issue) or lost pneumatic pressure (somehow pilot/builder issue as well🤭) @@tbobborap1
