I have a 3D capable heli and mounted a G meter to it once doing full speed straight down and the pitch up 100% It pulled something around 70G and I had to replace the main rotor blades because are there were hair cracks in the carbon fiber Friend of mine did it with a bigger 600 size heli (mine is a MCBx Bl from horizon, I wouldn’t want to risk my big one) and it simply tore off the rotor head while the body continued to belly flop into the grass He had to replace the chassis, but most of the electronics were fine since the straight down crash got cushionned by the dual 6s at bottom

I hung out with my dad years ago when he flew his RC planes with his club. I don’t recall anyone ever laughing when someone crashed, even though I remember thinking some of the crashes were hysterically funny. A bit different to when my old dad (rip) used to fly his planes. His first radio control was a magregor super egen single channel that he managed to control the rudder, elevators and engine with. You can tell professional flyers from the rest, because they'll always do a counter clockwise traffic pattern before and give themselves room on a their final approach. Beginners and Intermediates turn in too quick and force themselves to drop and land in too short a space with almost ZERO glide in. Zoom, turn, nose down to runway, bounce bounce bounce crash.

My favorite personal crash was when I pancaked a balsa slope glider. The Monokote covering stayed intact while all of the internal framing was shattered. I could have just rolled the ex-plane up and put it in a bag. Real world: Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. Model world: Some 'landings' you just have to walk away from.
